the only zoners that seem to complain about being shot at are the ones that are upset because their power trading is getting intrrupted, News Flash to those who Power Trade that Zoner ID is not going to protect you from anyone outside of your space.

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.

Right.

It's bad form all together. A pirate, accosting a Zoner and then thinking they are 'ok' to land on a Zoner base with impunity...IN THE SAME SYSTEM? I suppose the Zoner didn't send a message of the event while being pirated or prior to their destruction? I would think that most pirates would have the common sense to assume that their actions were reported to the nearest Zoner Base at the very least. Zoners are not by nature warriors. They are traders. Diplomacy is their 'thing'. So chances are they would 'pay' before they risked their own lives or cargo. However, being their affiliation does not make them immune to piracy, it makes sense that they too are subject to piracy and takes their chances like everyone else. Part of diplomacy, extends to the pirate.

Let's try to keep it realistic, eh?

I've got one answer to this:

Quote:Zoners are a diverse group of individuals who, for various reasons, have decided to live in the wild and unregulated systems outside colonial control.

Example:

My lane hacker character likes zoners that trade supplies to, from and between their bases.

and the same character will beat to death Zoners that collude with house corporations, police or militaries, or carry lane parts and such. That is - when there's not a zoner base in sight.

Okay... I just realized some may require the big pencil... so here it goes.

Doesn't matter what the affiliation is: Let's say you are a ZONER!!! and you fly an eagle. Let's say you have a good rep with the corsairs, but you find yourself in a fight with one in Gamma and you defeat them.

Are you with me, still...

Do you Really think it would be wise to land on Crete after the event?

That's the point.

Each of us should assume that there will be a consequence to our actions (even if the game doesn't adjust your rep in a PVP situation)

*just shakes my head.

My two cents:

You shouldn't pirate zoners near FPs, and then dock on them.
But, if they pirate you in another zone, and you don't report it to the zoners, how could they know that he pirated you?

Unless, you warn the zoners about that pirate, he's free to go.
If a man robbed you, and you don't denounce it to the authorities (in this case zoners), how are they going to stop him? or deny him docking rights?

If you pirate any Zoners you should not use any Zoner bases. The neutrality works both ways. Part of Zoners diplomacy and power is that they offer a base to anyone in lots of places around Sirius. Shooting at Zoners breaks the unwritten agreement of 'you dont shoot at us, we wont ask any questions when you dock'.

That said, i have no problem with being pirated. There is no Zoner ID shield and people shouldnt claim there is. If it doesnt serve your faction being on the good side of Zoners then pirate away, just dont land on any bases:)

Except that the very good odds are, that the Zoner I pirate in Omega 5 does not talk to the one operating the docking controls in Tau-37. The Zoners are a diverse group of individuals, not another Sirius Corporation, not some kind of quasi-house.

Edit: Basicly that is, if you are not on the council of zoners hostile list, I assume that would be posted on every Zoner base.

Now...if the pirate is being, reasonable. Asking for say a donation that is not to extreme..then I would see no reason why they could not use a Freeport later. But if they open up negotiations with a stream of plasma bolts...well then, they should expect not to be invited to Freeports after that.

Now pirating in view of a freeport..well that's just really bad form. Also that station better be shooting at you since that is basically akin to an attack.

As for the power traders. I think they are a smaller part of the Zoner population then most think. They just seems to be the most visible. There are changes coming to alleviate some of the Zoner Guard ID abuse.

Neither ID is a shield against piracy. There are some policies coming out very soon that will set most of this straight. I hope.

Quote:Zoners are a diverse group of individuals who, for various reasons, have decided to live in the wild and unregulated systems outside colonial control.

Now one thing about this quote that some folks seem to get stuck on. Just be cause we are diverse does not mean we are unorganized or live in chaos. Choosing to live outside house rules and laws does not mean we can not come to a consensus and make our own. All houses are a group of individuals, they are all diverse. It's just where they live that dictates the laws of the land. It's not like everyone in Liberty follows house laws.

Zoner just wanted the right to govern themselves..for some that is not listening to anyone...for others it is coming together to make their own policies. Zoners in reality could not survive if they did not band together.

A very good point, and correct

Corsairs pirate Zoners in canon, there's an infocard saying so, they just do it off in the middle of nowhere. If you're going to pirate Zoners within spitting distance of a Freeport, then don't use Zoner bases. Otherwise, it's fine, as long as you're not in the habit of hunting Zoners specifically and just treat them like any other trader.
