Capships are more noticeable, and capships require a lot more effort to get than any kind of fighter.

but the problem is the same - the only argument i agree with is - that i would "expect" someone in a battleship to roleplay better - not cause he must - but cause he spent a lot mroe time on the server than a common fighter.

but other than that - both are the same. a bad roleplayer is bad in a starflier aswell as in a zoner juggernaut. and a good roleplayer is good in a starflier aswell as in a zoner juggernaut.

A full and total amen to that. Capital ships should act as a reward for joining a particular faction, and to be frank, Zoners shouldn't have them in the first place, given that they aren't a militant faction.

Asgard Warriors, maybe, but not Zoners.

' Wrote:and again - the focus is on capships - instead of focussing on roleplay as such. how many fighter do we see flying around with the wrong ID / tag? more than capships - why not make a fuss about that.

if we all hate capships that much - why do we have them then. a kusari battleship with a bretonian ID and a corsair tag is NOT worse than a Liberator with a rheinland police ID and a gaian tag.

still people wouldn t make such a drama about it. ... people that fly their little ships according to the roleplay will do the same with bigger ships - and those that don t care much about it - won t care with fighters either. some people need time to get used to the roleplay, others feel comfy quickly.
Actually I see a LOAD more capships with OORP tags/IDs, than I do fighters/bombers

I would say, you are more likely to find a bad role player in a capship than in a fighter....think about it.
While there may be more bad roleplayers in fighters, the capships stand out, one, because usually, a good roleplayer does not go to the effort of buying a capship...the things are good only for shock value...
Cap whores...buy them because the thought is, that a capship can kill things better.
so, while the [X]fighter[X] is also an affront...they are hiding inside many decent roleplayers.
And, lets not forget, the [X]fighter[X] is standard across much of online freelancer.

Something you might think about...the GLS died, and, now, a lot of smaller servers are dieing.
People who don't want to stop playing FL flee here, I said a while back, that the disco community is growing.
and, if you look around...you can tell...people keep joining.

A while back...in august, I was thinking...everyone above user account number 5000 was an idiot.
complete and total idiot...but, that was august.
now...we have 13000 members, or so it says...
think about that, we have more than doubled since June. I said a while back, give it a chance, the growth will slow down...then disaster struck, and we are taking in refugees...
Well, even still, what it takes, is us, working to train more RP. And praying all the survivors are done coming over that hill, cause we cant feed the rest, and we aren't going to turn anyone away, not without a chance.

also....why do zoners have a fleet? Because, they survive by scaring everyone off....no one wants to tangle with them...thats their neutrality.

I will restate this in simpler terms for you Praetyre..

Haven't you been reading the Forums?

Zoners are receiving new threats and new challenges all the time.

I resent the fact that you want to tie our hands to an outmoded vision of Zoners because of some damned Infocards you bothered to read somewhere.

Either the game evolves in RP for everyone, or it doesn't.

How's that for frank?

Oh Mal, how could you start a rant without me!

*Pouting*

I'll get over it. Wow! What an excellent rant this has been. Just my little statement before I boot up the ol' comp and try to log onto the server for the first time in... several months? Anyways, my statement:

Back (WAY BACK) when I started, I saw capital ships as the apex of civilization. People who had them were the cream of the crop, these great titans (not the blasted ship, you sillies, but the literary term, stemming from the Greek pantheon in which the Titans created the Earth and such!) of Roleplaying who had become so successful that they could afford the outlandish prices and pilot the veritable fortresses of space.

And when I could finally afford one, my gosh! How beautiful a moment it was. I think it was a Rheinland Cruiser. And yes, I had all missile turrets. Didn't PVP much, but I did RP whenever I could, which was rather often. Oso even employed me. Teehee, good times those were! Then Quint came and made my beloved missile turrets into the Devil's Harlots, and that kinda made me discouraged.

Still. The point is this. I remember a time when capital ships were not the epic player-versus-player behemoths that they are today, but symbols of society. I can only languish in the past, as I haven't the foggiest idea as to how we, the Discovery Server people, can reinstate that symbol sans Administrative Intervention. I'm a stout proponent against that form of regulation, by Jove, and I won't budge. Sure, me not budging hasn't ever actually made an impact, but still, it gives me closure.

In conclusion, folks, there is no foreseeable solution in the future that doesn't require Admin intervention, passwords, IDs, so on, so forth. Moving a capital ship to the guard system kinda peeves me because the Epiphany wasn't related to the Rheinland military at all, and yet, due to her connections (her mother, Fiona, was the damn Kusari Ambassador and highly connected in the Rheinland government!) was able to obtain a recently-obsoleted Rheinland Cruiser.

Bah, I'm just ranting. I'll let the big boys go about making the decisions again and just hide back in the shadows. Carry on!

On the subject of the border worlds trader, I would hope that it would be viewed as a ship worthy for trading in the border worlds, rather than belonging to the border worlds. It is favoured by the KoF as a fleet trader, and would be a sad loss to our fleet should we have to give it up.
imo all trader should remain in the public domain. end of my two pence worth.

Bullzeye! Well expressed and well pointed.

I think the main goal is to reduce PvP whoring and increase RP, because Roleplay means sportsmanship and it is exactly what I'd like to see.

I'd actually like to be a smartass right here and say that roleplaying does not mean sportsmanship. Some people, like the Phantoms, amongst others, do not roleplay characters that are sporting at all. They roleplay evil bastards.
