It seems to be more of an assault ship, instead of a transport.

Yeah, the idea I had was something more along the lines of a Pelican Dropship from Halo then a cargo-carrying looking thing. Hence, why it has a gun mount and the two missile mounts.

Although I'm not sure how well it would fit into the universe with that loadout. Perhaps a few guns and a turret or two to help lay down some "cover fire" to use a term.

Aha! The truth is revealed! I knew you had an "Angry" Pelican in mind when you came up with the ship idea!

However, I do think a ship of that type would be rather pointless for Freelancer. What you suggest here involves armies and planet-side battles, with like, men, with... guns... and things... well, not anything that happens in Freelancer, obviously. Although, for RP purposes, it may be interesting. I just don't see why such a ship would be flying around in space doing... anything, really.

I personally would love to see an angry pelican style ship. I'm going to see about getting another milkshape trial and see what I can come up with... maybe even use one of my old fighter models as a base. :D (I made a Xenos fight awhile back.. weird little thing.. looks similar to a Solrain Medium Fighter form jumpgate if anyone is familiar.

I know you posted this back in April, but I just had to comment on it.

You'd be surprised what you could do with a little knowhow. I'm guessing it would be much simpler to transfer the models over from the iMac than you realize. For that matter, I could probably do it for you, if I knew where to get the game.

Oh, and there are people who make games for Macs. Here's one of my favorites. They just came out with a new racing game that might surprise you. They also published some of Introversion's games for mac, notably Uplink and Darwinia.

It's official, I have too few ships now...

I hope that posting on this thread revives it...
Anyway, I have a few ship ideas that may be cool to make if anyone has the skills to do it. ( I for one do not) I also have blueprints for these ships on my old computer saved on microsoft word. You see, back in the day, my friends and I used to think up ship ideas to put into a rpg we made up using the d20 system. I think I have many of the orginal blueprints and I can also describe them by words if I have to. :) What is even cooler is that many of the ships will look like they belong in freelacer. Some even look like they belong to a certin house or faction. Let me know if you are interested in looking at them.

Yes i agree, Pointless... Like the Mining ship that really sucks at mining, heavy lifter when there is nothing to lift and the repair ship that does no repairing. But WTF they are interesting to fly around in anyway.

Hehe, dropsips.... I like the idea a lot. Well, I'd personally make a cross between a level 1 freighter, spatial and a bomber to make one. And quite typically, the colonials have a ship to suggest for this concept:crazy:

Truth be told, the raptor was being used EXACTLY in the previously mentioned role. It however lacked the space to have something bigger onboard. Just a squad of 8 marines plus their gear. The raptor did have the ability to penetrate a ship's hull and send in a boarding party. Also, it served as an evac ship, when civilians and resistance fighters had to be evacuated from an occupied planet.
