Eh, my opinion is mixed. I say that some of the gunboats/caps should be merged so they dont suffer as much compared to other ships.

However for fighters, I think that they should either be kept the way they are, or have the really good fighters (ie sabres) nerfed a bit more. As of now, the only thing going against it really is that its vulnerable to explosives. Just my two cents.

My thoughts are as such.

I would be heartsick if the mergers went through. Seeing bits blown of your ship is really special. Like someone else said, it brings Freelancer alive for me.

However, practically, It makes sense to merge the vanillas. Why? Bits getting blown off is nice, but it's just graphics. The gameplay is what is more important. But where do you separate aesthetic graphics like your ship getting blown apart from the mechanics of flying? Flying without bits getting blown off, is like strapping your arms and legs together with duct tape. Sure you can still move around, but it takes a lot of the pleasure away.

On the other hand, What I would really like to see is all the ships getting an upgrade and having parts get blown off for all the non-vanilla. But this is a quarryload of work (as opposed to a bucketload). I suspect that option wouldnt be popular with the Disco devs.

Bits getting blown off = better tactics = more fun = more work to implement = lots of problems that are unforseen = not popular choice.
Ships having one unbreakable "body" = breaks the realism of getting hit = less fun = less time to bring new ships in or skins or models = more popular choice.

It's a no-win in my book. I voted yes Merge Vanillas.

Well, all my fighters are vanilla... but i voted no. the funny thing with this game was that you can lose a part of your ship during a fight if that part take to much damage... for me it would be better to put on new ship same explosion resistance like vanilla have... but i understand them who are bored to die killed by a simple little missile.

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.
