Umm, why? Not all faction logos would go well with certain colors or gradient/patterns.

Because it feels unprofessional to me, like commodity icons with different backgrounds. You make a good point though, some logos don't really go well with the same backgrounds.
I think they should be kept the same where possible, though.

I was thinking of something like this:



Some faction logos are missing because there was no logo or no suitable version of it.

Some of them are questionable for similar reasons or because of low contrast.

Do with these what you want.
