What is a Bounty Hunter

a bounty hunter on discovery freelancer 24/7 rp server is usually an immigrant from a larger mmo such as WoW or guildwars. only reason they pick the faction is to have free roaming with capital class vessels to pvp whore pirates and others that they see fit to die by there guns. mostly a quiet bunch, never have much to say but when they do say something, they bring in a language called leet speak.

that is my belief of what a bounty hunter is in discover freelancer.

A bounty hunter in real life is someone that goes out and attempts to bring people in that the police cannot find or have the resources to go find. someone that has broke the bail bond and escaped or is in hiding. the bounty hunter gathers information and makes the capture in what would be sometimes illegal for police to do so. at least in the American government.

or so i have been told by a couple officers that are friends of mine.

the constructiveness of some posts simply amazes me...

what Thexare said is so very true. half the corsairs are flying in those damn lunchboxes. do you see hunters opening topics about that? no. do hunters whine about other players all the time? no.

rp-ing a hunter is the hardest job on discovery only second to being an admin I daresay.

the constant stream of insults, whining, pissing and moaning you have to put up with.
but what is most annoying is the hypocrisy of some pirates. the ones who whine the most won`t hesitate for a second to nuke a Manta or Hammerhead with a Preafact. they think "engaging" is suffient and start blasting away the second after they hit the enter key. they gank hunters 5 to 1. using nomad weapons? no problem. I bet there`s a street vendor somehwere on crete who sells hotdogs as well as nomad weaponry.

please look in the mirror before you start spouting the usual dribble about hunters.

And every time, many players choose to air grievances and make inflammatory remarks about the ID because they have some problem with another player. It's in no way constructive, and frankly speaking, it's irritating, boring and not related to the topic of the thread. We were discussing the ID, but then random trash like the above pops up. A few words, with no elaboration, that serves no purpose whatsoever.

Stay on the topic or stay out of the thread.

What he said, sir Malak.

Good, now how many of their targets are actually around?

Thought so. And we can't do a damn thing in Kusari, so... what, would you prefer if I dropped my Manta for yet another battlecruiser combing the Omicrons for fighters? Or are you just looking for things to whine about? I hunt bounties, and they're basically all in Liberty when I'm around.

You know, just for saying that, I should put up a blanket bounty on all unlawfuls in Sigma-13 for 500k each.

Thexare, it wasn't directed at you. Sure, it's a stereotype. I just don't like Hunters. I never did like them, whether or not I was lawful. When you see a Battlecruiser, Gunboat, and Cruiser in Omega-41 that can't say anything but 'engaging,' you lose a lot of respect for that faction. Hunters have a bad reputation. If they are really a guild, then maybe the ID should be restricted to those with the sense to not abuse it. All else can get a merc ID and stick with a gunboat, fighter, or bomber.

Kurosora, about that. There's weed in every crop. If I judged whole NPC factions by the actions of individuals.. what would come of my opinion for mostly everything?

I'd say Corsairs, Outcasts, Navy, LSF, Police, Hunters, and God knows how many other factions were idiots.. And if I thought so.. then I'd truly be an idiot.. and a bigot.

The factions I have no grievances whatsoever reside in Rheinland and Bretonia... and a few in Kusari.

It's mainly the indies I'm judging. Every time I see an indy BC, a tiny part of my soul dies.

It's a Bounty Hunters GUILD. The rest should be mercs.

I feel the same way about the Navies and Militaries, but that's another thread.

I assume you are mostly in Liberty? In the Omicrons, there are some Hunters that (try) to RP with the bounty-heads there. Try and go with those. You'll see it's fun to fly around Gamma with 5 Mantas and have Osirises hunting you.

On a side-note, i voted 3. At least that's what i try to do.

I felt the same way as Kurusora about Bounty Hunters for a while... Then I started meeting some that were actually good RPers, and I regained faith.

The S/D are okay, just a tad trigger-happy. Those are some of the few hunters I hold in regard.

Hell, even I've made one now.

A few people can have quite an impression on a whole NPC faction. That may be good or bad, depending on the case.

And you can't say things haven't improved.

A few months ago you'd see all battlecruisers instead. My props to the indy BHG for cleaning it up a bit.
