For the ppl who dislike pvp of any sort and form: please remove all your shield, weapons, same for npcs. Fly around in life pods, and do trade with 5 cargo space...

I say no. Although people ARE abusing the PvP, we cannot turn it off because then alot of things will hurt.

If it were turned off, then it cant be permanent.

Did any of you guys pay attention to Blunt?

Half the factions in Sirius would be out a job. What would pirates do, ask nicely? Offer some sugar on top?... Or perhaps a cherry?

There would be no RP because player factions could not interact on a political and militaristic standpoint. It would basically turn into~
(Ex.)

[KNF] Guy - Stay out of Kusari space or... I'll spam the chat box with reasons why we don't want you here."

[Not a KNF] Dude - Oh! Look, no PvP... Looks like you're out of luck. I can go anywhere I doodle-well please."

Player factions would be reduced to ramming eachother to settle matters. -.-'

I believe I have made my point on why this IS NOT a good idea. RP would be all but eliminated except the occasional,

"Hail!"

"Hail..."

"A fine haul you have there, isn't trading wonderful and un-exciting without PvP?"

"I know! I'm always on the edge of my seat, waiting for those Lane Hacker NPC's to take me out with their 50 damage weapons. Sometimes I wonder if my 140,000 armor and shield will ever hold!"

"This is better than the Changeform Robot-Car movie on Manhattan..."

"I know, well, goodbye, fellow trader!"

For the majority of us with ships that can take on any enemy you throw at it, trading... would be... this mod. Solely, because there would be almost no player interaction. This reduction in interest would eliminate what RPers there still are due to the utter monotony of it all.

Without inter-faction relationships to keep the RPers busy, well... RPing, they would get bored, stop RPing, and maybe even quit the server since it would be so drab.

Now! I know I've said I was done like... Three times now, but I really am this time. And once again, I think I made my point.

Your ever-loved, Magoo!.

ok, magoo has a point, and an amusing and concise one at that.

OMFG it wouldnt be FOREVER. Have a listen to yourselves "oh noes if we cant fight then we have nothing to do." Grow up.

The state of RP in some cases on this server is a disgrace to the way it was some time ago. I personally am SICK to death of the pvp whores here who have no interest in RP, there is a PvP server and its high time the bloody used it.

Next for the group of you that say there can be no RP without PvP you can cut that crap and stop insulting my intelligence right now. OF COURSE there can be RP without PvP, our characters needs more than violence and battle to form bonds with and friendships with other chars.

Lets look at the Phantoms, now if all the phantoms RP was based on PvP then the situation would be this:

Every so often Darkstar would gather his slayers and lords together to go and terrorise a chosen system. While in transit there and during the pre battle checks there would be no talking and no banter between the phantoms because they dont know anything about each other. There would be nothing to make morale high. And when the fighting begins well the slayers would be unable to effectively compliment each other and work as a team because again these chars dont know each other. Now if that was the case then would the phantoms be the deadly effective fighting force they are today? Oh god no.

There is some Sound RP BETWEEN factions but what i find lacking is the RP between the individual characters in the factions. By turning off PvP for a short period of time then we could build on this and it has the potential to help in the longer term. Most of what Im seeing here in this thread are some "concerned" folk who are worrioed they wont be able to show off and celebrate their latest Capital Ship aquisition with a good old fight or they dont want to trade thats crap, yes i dont like it either but we have to stop thinking only about ourselves and what could potentially be good for the WHOLE community.

actually....though I agree with magoo...and blunt, and the rest of you naysayers at this point....
i really did want to get pirated...so i could politely give the pirate the money...if they asked nicely.
i mean...if they aren't threatening me with force...they are asking for a donation....and I make a lot of those already....

OMG I couldn't even believe this was up for a vote.

Did someone miss out on the entire point of multi-player freelancer? Perhaps they relish the idea of flying round an empty server hailing NPC's. The way I see it is that there would be no-one playing if there was no PVP.... Whats the point?

So for me the idea is..... You kill some bloke/lady in another part of the world just when they think they have gotten the game all sown up and they can own. You show them the error of their ways and they end up biting through their desk in fury. MMMMMM the fun that is freelencer. OR.... you think you are the top dog and swagger into a system full of would be noobs and get a serious butt kick.... and you dont speak to anyone for 3 days....

Such is the highs and lows of life on a PVP enabled server. How would you have it?

Fun.......vs.......wallpaper paste.

OMG I cant believe I had to vote on this?

I voted. Can I have a button?

[Some fun stuff]

The Mu koan is as follows: A monk asked Zen master Zhaozhou, a Chinese Zen Master: "Has a dog Buddha-nature or not?", Zhaozhou answered: "mu".

According to the Jargon File, a collection of hacker jargon and culture, mu (here pronounced "moo") is considered by Discordians to be the correct answer to the classic logical fallacy of the loaded question "Have you stopped beating your wife?" Assuming that you have no wife or you have never beaten your wife, the answer "yes" is wrong because it implies that you used to beat your wife and then stopped, but "no" is worse because it suggests that you have one and are still beating her. As a result, various Discordians proposed mu as the correct answer, alleged by them to mean "Your question cannot be answered because it depends on incorrect assumptions".
