Azz, you obviously haven't fought a gunboat loaded with nothing but Cerbs since the new mod came out. They don't have massive energy drain anymore, and can be chainfired long enough to destroy most targets. Why do you think the TAZ and LSF are offering such large bounties for a few gunboats with an all-cerb armament? It's not because the TAZ and LSF are incompetent pilots, or because the gunships are too fast to hit, it's because one Cerb is as powerful as three or four regular gunboat turrets. So something with six Cerbs is doing as much damage as 24 regular gunboat turrets, so it's like having four gunboats shooting at you...and like has been said, the energy drain has been so vastly reduced that it's just not an obstacle anymore to Cerbers.
As to your battleship...why not test it? For the purposes of testing, we could ask the admins for enough money to do this on the PvP server. You get your BS, with your loadout. Two pilots (one can be me) buy a gunboat and load it with nothing but Cerbs, and then we see what happens.
Or if a couple of cerbers would like to volunteer to test this in Connecticut or something, that's another possibility.

ill take you up on that offer. a gb vs a bs. the gb can win. i can say it, since me (in a lib gb) and a helper (in a light fighter) took on a lib dreadnought with a cap mk 7, and won. and this was before the new mod. in this mod, 2 gunboats can kill 3 bs, one after the other (again, having done so) without having the need to restock.
right now i own 2 Corsairs GBs, cerberus turrets still have huge energy drain. I can only put 4 cerberus turrets + other Gb turrets and be able to shoot without sacrificing wait period for my energy to recharge again. Having nothin but cerberus turrets is a joke, cause u'll be able to shoot for what? a whole 10 seconds? and than.......wait to recharge, while getting shot at?
(Oh and true story) An outcast Dreadnought came to Gamma, and destroyed 3 GBs that came after him, PLS dont tell me that im a noob or that I cant pilot my own GB (i have over 4 years online pvp exp)
And if u have the right setup on ur BS, u can and will kill any VHF, Bomber, GB and a Cruiser no problem, all depends on u. How u handle ur ship and what guns setup u have on it.
Having 4 Cerberus Turrets on a gunboat is already something overpowered. Way too unbalanced the energy requirement of the current cerberus turrets is and I hope they will be fixed. And the gunships are now roaming around Sirius like terminators, laying solo waste..
For the Dread vs GB issue, the dread would need a good armor upgrade and skill to be able to deal with 3 Corsair Gunboats only if the Gunboat pilots posess more than average skill..
before i could and did face any cruiser in my GB, many battleships and still came out of those fights alive...
now i cant do squat to bloody gunship armed with cerberus...people who met me ingame, know how i can fly my GB...and somehow now i can get wrecked by anyone who uses cerberus and gunships....

well than in that case, the whole thing is unbalanced.
Buyin a VHF nowdays is a pure waste of time, since they just dont have enough energy to use good guns and missiles. Not only that, everybody can buy whatever they want, since there r no restrictions on anythin.
Start from there. If u take cerberus turrets away, what does it leave GBs with? How would Gbs fight anything bigger than them? and with what? If u so anticerberus, perhaps GBs should have limited slots for cerberus turrets, but dont change them or take them away.
before,when cerbs need 14000 energy i was using 2 and i can say i was able to destroy crusier,but now is no problem take 6 cerbs and destroy everythink.
and azzazello before work gb with cerbs with 14000 energy and everythinkg was fine.so why not put the erbs back to 14000?
(and yes i primary use my gb,but i will not have from the ship flying fortress)
