The skill argument is pretty much bullsh**. To chainfire one needs to simply press 1,2,3,4,5,6 before right-clicking. There is almost zero skill involved, but major handcramps.
I support the chainfiring idea.

Then there is also zero skill in flying, where all you are doing is moving a mouse and right clicking.
Sit down, stop countering 'bull****e' arguments with your own load of crap.
Like I said before - I only mentioned this because Ive seen multiple firing modes supported in other games - not to mention real life weapons systems.
The way I see it, its about customising to suit ones playing style. Some like to have all guns firing together to maximise damage (especially in jousts) - others like me adopt a 'spray and pray' approach.

Well, flying around and randomly shooting does take zero skill indeed. Flying/fighting well against other pilots is the thing that requires skill. And this is not given for chainfiring. There is no good or bad chainfiring. You can aim, thrust, engine-kill, dodge, box or strafe well. That is skill. But chainfiring does not require anything but a few keystrokes.
' Wrote:If it's so easy, then why do you need an auto chainfire? Being lazy to push the buttons isn't a good reason to have this FLHook Command.
I don't need it. Why isn't laziness a good argument? There are tons of commands like givecash which were just introduced for that. Also I find the idea relatively logical. Why shouldn't you be able to adjust that on an armed space craft?!
Also it would be very benefical to Capships, since chainfiring with them is a real pain (try chainfiring Turret number 11 please).

It requires timing and aim and energy conservation skills because you can't keep it up for ever unlike vanilla. Shush.
All these things are required for regular firing too: Aim, timing, energy conservation. You basically just repeat the same sequence of button mashing whenever you pass the enemy.
EEmm... your argument is wrong XENOSAGA, I can't chainfire, I really suck at it. Not just that I can't time my guns in a proper way, but I changed my keyboard numbers, for example I fire the weapon 6 by pressing 4, and weapon 8 by pressing Shift + 4.
It requires "skills" indeed, because while you are fighting, you have to use your fingers, I don't know how you all fight, but I use most of my fingers while fighting, taking a couple of them, even if it's just for 1 second, it means I'm stopping from pressing something else, like A or D.
Everything that you do while fighting requires skills, somethings require more than others.
