I spend as much time as I can afford on my Angel without it taking priority over other necessities, and most of the time I'm asked questions about things that are not, as it has been said before, crystal clear.

Most of the time it's ID issues, ZOIs, engaging and piracy misunderstandings, people that don't understand the mining system, the ptrans IS considered a transport and you don't shoot it in your LNS, and so on.

It's stuff that may appear as common sense for veterans, but for newcomers it's really a pain, which gives me an idea.

The rule's aren't as clear as some think. Some of veteran players know and understand them because we've been here awhile and asked questions about them. I've not been sanctioned, but that isn't because I know the rules in and out. It is because in game I am not an arse hole to others and if I think what I am doing might be breaking the rules, I don't do it.

The problem with the rules (any set of rules) is that they are man made, thereby there will always be flaws and always been grey areas that people will inquire about. Does it get frustrating answering the same questions every few months? Sure does, but I asked the same questions when I first started, can't blame new guys for doing exactly what I did.

I'm really quite surprised that we don't have an implemented Server Police of sorts to take care of mundane, day-to-day server side business. We have a dedicated team of Forum Police in the Moderation staff, but when it comes to server-side, all we have is the Administration whose plates seems to be quite full already.

To be fair, I have seen more Administrators on recently (We just ran into Doc Holliday on his Admin ship yesterday in Gallia), but given the history on the activity tracker, I'd think it'd be a tad more important to get a group of people who's sole job is to just niggle things on the server like the Moderation does here on the forums. Basic character moving (especially for Bargifying), guiding of server RP events as they occur, on-the-spot punishments for poor behavior, fielding questions that are too tough or outside of the realm of what the Angel staff can cover, et cetera.

For the most part, the server seems to really serve as its own entity with the players acting as police. I really think it'd cut down on some of the Administrative workload if a lot of the minor things could be headed off and dealt with on the spot. Let the SPs moderate the server, the Moderators moderate the forums, and have the Administrators bridge the gap for things that they need to have a say on.

So, to directly answer the question, yes, I think we need more administrative figures around, but not in the full administrative capacity that they are now.

In my opinion, the way the discovery administration is made does not allow the creation of such things, Gheis. You see, I feel discovery entierely tied the forums and the ingame part so much that you simply have to go through the forums for the slightest request.

While in a way it's good to reinforce / continue interaction outside of the game, some things have been taken too far.

You see, one day on my angel, a newbie made me realise this. He just wanted to join a faction, and have fun. He chose the BAF after we discussed about factions for quite some time. Then I told him he would likely need skype as it's mandatory for a lot of official factions. He replied : Why do I have to install another program, there's the forums.

In a way it's stupid, because we all know being able to communicate quickly and in group is efficent and useful. But on the other hand, how did we, the community, end up making Skype mandatory for so many little things just to be able to have a taste of the game ?

To get back on the topic, Mods can do their work on the forums because closing a thread has no impact on the game, but I think getting to be an "ingame administrative frontline" is actually tougher than simply being an admin.

Yes.

Too many RUS and not enough sanctions.

Seriously, people break rules not because they haven't read them. I've been here since god knows how long and I can honestly say I've only skimmed past most of the rules. Yet I've only been sanctioned once, but that was just me being silly.

Imo, the saddest thing that had happened on Disco since I joined was SRPs closure. I dare say it took a good chunk of fun and uniqueness out of the game and made it much more boring.

When was the last time any of you saw a Terrorist IDed character? Or a Special Ops on for that matter? Don't know about other players opinions, but to me, the three interactions I had with Ivan's, Doom's and Wuselkobold's Terrorists were the most enjoyable interactions I ever had on Disco, and knowing that if I worked hard enough on my char I also had the chance of gettin one of those on my ship was a good motivation to make me try to improve my char's RP and contribute something to the community.

So, if getting more admins would help with reopening SRPs and adding some of that old uniqueness to playerbase, I vote for more admins.

P.S: And no, totally removing tech chart and adding FLhooked nerf system based on how oorp the tech used on a ship is won't help with anything. It'll just bring chaos to the mod and nothing else.

Ehhhhh... if anything, FLHook can and so should be used to expand roleplay opportunities, not limit them.
EDIT: wow, fail, this is Ingenious

This.

Exactly what bothers me since the SRPs closed.

The chance to get some unique stuff going (and not just random mercs with retarded OP equipment combinations) has been taken away. I always found it awesome to read SRP stories, and then meeting that very ship in space. And seeing it acting like you imagined it while reading its story.

stuff like the Thunderbay, Tundra, etc. Stuff that makes you go 0_o when you see it. and then you read the story behind it and you go 'ahhaaa...'

I'm all for more admins. Espacially if that would give new life to the SRPs.

Seconded all the damn way. You might use the argument that we have so many unique RPs that being a 'normal' guy is unique, but to be honest, people get tired of shooting the same bunch of Rogues and Rhienlanders on their LN or Nomads and Core on Order.

And in comes the Tundra (a survivor of the SRP period) and enriches our roleplay experience. Cheers to that.
