Last time I checked, I can fire half of my templar's guns 90 degrees to the sides, which is way more than you can do without turret view, also, we had a 3v1 fight against a turret-steerer while none of us had this, enough to say it ended in epic loss.

I am not exaggerating. It should really be disabled to fighters.

like with all testing - the public beta ( the time when the dev team will be open for every suggestion based on serious testing ) - will allow for such feedback.

however - serious testing needs to be done. ( then, not now )

serious testing usually includes several runs with various setups ( 1 vs. 1, 1 vs. 2/3, 2 vs. 2 or big groupfights .... switching sides and at least 5 or 6 fights with switched ships )

it also takes time - time to adjust to a new feature and time to adjust to defending against a new feature. - it may just be that ... for example... bombers will suddenly have a MUCH harder time to shoot down gunboats - that can now steer and shoot into more directions - while at the same time zoom out to a far distance.

but who knows - maybe bomber pilots will adjust to it with new tactics - ( just like the GBs did ) - and things will even out.

as with every new feature - give it time to sink in - try your best the first months or at least the first 2 weeks of intense playing.

If Templars are able to fire guns at 90 degrees - the problem is with the gun arcs - not turret steering!

First let me thank you for posting on my topic:)

Quote:So you're saying that it should be removed because you got beaten by a Sabre using only his turret? xD

And as you can see from the second vid, you're generally better off not using turret steering in snubs anyway, it actually puts you at a disadvantage. If someone masters the use of it in snubs, good for them, given that Fighters have very restricted firing arcs, it makes little to no difference.
I was beaten in an unfair fight. How would you feel if somebody with fisheye(I hope you know what it is)came and pwnt u using it?Yes,fighters have restricted firing arcs, only 50degrees or so in chase view ,but with turret zoom you get almost 90 degrees from the guns and 180 degrees from turret. So it IS unfair, given the fact I couldn't use that thing.

Quote:remember, some people learn and adapt faster than others. Just because you haven't learned it yet, doesn't mean it should be scrapped... if that was the case, Cash would have tossed his guitar out the window after the first lesson, and then where would we be?
I know, but by installing this thing you will ruin the whole pvp,not enhance it.Think of it like giving each player cheats and see who is best with it.Pathetic, isn;t it?:)

Quote:Yep, I guess about 60% of the people crying about this can't use it or got pwned by it recently.

You don't like it ?

It's a feature actually making GB useful for what they are supposed to do. It's ways easier to fly bigger ships and it's more enjoyable, too.[quote]
Don't get me wrong,I love this thing,it is an astounding thing ,but if used wrong,it can be a horrible thing.I want it for caps, and Not for fighters

[quote]1vs1 yes you can fire back more often, but then you can't strafe/dodge that well so you get hit more
yes you can fire your turret (if you have it) backwards while dodging, but hey that's 1 gun.
Have you watched my first video?I ALWAYS do 90% of the damage from outturning the enemy and shooting him when he is in ek.If he is flying all the time, then it is almost impossible to do some decent damage in a reasonable time.If you use this thing,EK is pointless and you always steer your ship and thus it becomes harder to hit.My oppinion. And one gun is not that much damage,yea..

Quote:As I mentioned before most damage to that eagle during second part of the vid is from the lvl19 KNF NPCs that hit the eagle during long e-kills.
What strikes me is how the author manages to write that he had more chances without it and that it changes uber noobs into uberpwnzors such a short distance from one another.
If you practice with it,you become good.Simple as that.It was my first time with turret steering on that video,so I was a noob.I had more chances in normal view because I practiced pvp in that view for 4 years.

By the way,did you know this thing turns torps into useless things?Yes,I actually know what they can do,ask any decent HHC player what torps are good at.They are actually disabled here because of intense lag, they spawn later and always miss the enemy. And in fights, torps DO make alot of damage if you know how to use them.Sadly, they are off here cuz "they are ooRP for snubs" ...

Again,if you love to play with cheats, then do it.But don't include me in it.I have spent 4 uears in perfecting my skills in pvp and I won't change my fight style because admins think it's cool.

If any of you wants to contact me,add me on skype and I'll speak to you.

Some of you say, it is not all that good on fighters. In this case, why do you want to keep it for fighters then, if it is useless?
I recently fought against a Werewolf that used this and it was borderline cheating imho. The moment I faced him, he gave me a precise broadside while making a dodging maneuver. It was suppresive fire + precise fire + dodging in one. It's bullcrap, seriously. It may be, that only certain ships benefit from it, but that actually makes it much unfairer. It MUST be disabled as long as it is not properly balanced.
I cannot really comment on the situation of caps though. It might benefit gunboats most though, since they are already pretty agile and sometimes really small for their firepower. It should be considered, to give it only to Battleships and Cruisers. Turret Steering was meant to be a counter, to the problem, that 3 fighters can kill a cruiser easily.

Exacly, as I stated in previous post, fire arcs on most/all fighters allow firing half of their guns at 90 degrees, at least that's posible with sabre, templar, hussar and just mentioned werewolf and propably Guardian, given arcs at which Guardian NPC shoot, there might be exceptions, but I've seen no fighter that can't do a broadside slide while firing so far.

I do share some concerns about a few ships and think that some firing arcs might need adjusting.

However this pretty much sums what seems to be the main concern of this thread:

Seems very much like the people used to fly eagle with torps and do 1vs1 all the time are the most concerned.
As Kopesh himself wrote the thing he can do is outturn the enemy and then hit him while the other guy is a sitting duck in e-kill. Obviously in 1vs1 this always favors the faster turning ship.

So if say the mentioned Werewolf which is huge and doesn't turn extremely fast benefits from it, it certainly changes the game, but is it for worse? Sticking to vanilla/hamburgcity fights with eagles and torps forever can get a bit boring no?

Actually, Discovery PvP is diverse. Well, only the domination of Nuke mines is pretty evident. But apart from that, people use a myriad of guns, ships and equipment, while Vanilla Freelancer was Eagle+Torpedo (or Lancer missile in the older days)+Nomad guns+Tizona del Cid.

There may be need to balance a few things here and there, but adding such a new feature to Snub fights is absolutely not necessary. Without real proper balancing, it even hurts according to some people, me included.
