1 bs, 2 cr, 4 gb, another 4+ small ships. That's what you said in the first post is ok, but you can count... 11+ players. And if you can get 11 members online just to do that, good for you, others can't.:)
What I think about a fleet: 1 bs, 1-2 gbs, rest fighters. I think this is ok too;)
Yeah I like that system of needing 2-3 fighters before pulling out a GB, that fits RP pretty well imo. I mean c'mon guys! How can you not have fighters, saying a BS doesnt need fighter support is like saying.. alright I don't have a good example, but fighter should always be there. Its like, blasphemy to not have them....
Slightly biased opinion here comming from someone who owns 4 fighters, a bomber, transport and gunboat but meh.
Its also not fair to others who can't afford the more powerful ships or who aren't allowed them. Factions make cap ships limited usually and independants are just rich. For the average newb it can make a PvP battle very intimidating, especially if your ship is guarenteed to be blown up and be useless even if you're a good pilot.

That's why I posted the smaller fleet combinations. At such low numbers it's not wise to leave a BS with that weak escort, believe me.;)
I had a thought about what reasons people could have to use Capships:
- They feel safer in Capships
- Capships have BIG guns and are BIG themselves
- Capships are seen as status symbols
- Gunboats are pretty much all-rounders, Cruisers are "badass" and Battleships "PWN"
- Where else can you put your money earned from doing the Harris-MacDuff run?
I'm always open for a quick demonstration on how 2-3 bombers can destroy a BS without great losses on their side.
I know one thing. Last 2 times i went in Alpha, i met 6 cap. ships. Both times.
First time, 1 BS, 3 cruisers and 2 gunboats (1 or 2 fighters on their side) - against 3 VHF-s.
Second time, 3 BS 3 gunboats (2 or 3 small crafts) - against 6 fighters.
Now, i'm not flaming or anything, just stating that this is ridiculous.
I know, most of them are freelancing Outcasts (haven't seen RoS in a ship bigger then a gb for a long time, and i like it), but then again...
3 fighters are fighting against a destroyer and 2 fighters (i count bombers as fighters too), and then i see RoS calling for backup on system chat.
Now, i wouldn't mind backup normaly, but that backup was.. huh.. huge..
1 BS came straight away, 2 more destroyers, and 2 gunboats.. I mean, isn't that a bit much for just 3 VHF's?
I don't mind that, really, it's a lot easier to dodge BS-s shots then fighters.. But we loose a chance of wining in the start. Yes, we can take down all fighters etc, but we will have to run eventualy.
So, to conclude, i really, really agree that there should be some kind of rule for how many BS/cruisers are allowed to fight 1 battle on the same side.
It spoils the fun, really, it does.
And, pulling out a BS without a support of fighters.. well.. it's at least out of RP.

Dude, yesterday the BSG attacked in fighters and Eppy brought out the fantasia. That was fine, but then 2 independants showed up in Spyglass's. We were grateful of course, cause it was like, a gb, 3-4 bombers, verses like 5 fighters. and they still manged to survive a long time. My point? dont really have one, cept to say that there were 3 independant BS in Alpha yesterday. (I know eppy has a 'reason' for his), But the corsairs arnt the only ones who do this.

Ok I made this a while ago about the same thing you guys are talking about. Might want to check it out.
Been here since Discovery 4.77 (lurk mode engaged)
Zapp Wrote:I have recently met and discussed with Atalawohisdi the trader that flies the Caribe. Just so everyone knows, I engaged in Sigma 13. He flies through half the system before going back to New Berlin, where he cruises from one side of the system to the other, hugging the sun as close as he can. All the while, he flies near Battleships trying to scrape me off. I finally send out the white flag, and move back to Sigma 13. However, it was a ruse, and he bit. Knowing his trade route, I interdicted the trade lane and the chase began anew. It ended, an hour after it began, with me retreating, out of Countermeasures and getting very irritated.
He kept boasting how he has never been caught; I'd like to see him beat until he begs to pay, then beaten some more.
As i said, i wouldn't mind one BS. But 3 BS + 3 GB.. Again a bit much, and i think you'l agree.
I'm not blaming RoS for this, i'm blaming those independants that spamm battleships and destroyers, instead of fighters.
I mean, i can bet that those don't fly fighters at all, and that is wrong. Even if they are to chase a guy all the way trough eta > theta > sigmas, they will do that in a BS, and someone needs to show them that it's wrong.
And as i said, BS without fighters is ridiculous, totally.
Corsairs spamm gunboats, which is a way better then battleships and destroyers.
Yes, they are deadly, but gunboats don't need fighter escort, while battleships and cruisers should have.
And, i don't know if you witnessed the RP event in Gamma, when Outcasts came with more then 4,5 destroyers.. They fell like flies, in 10 seconds. But that is because we had a large bomber squadron, and 4,5 m26 gunboats.
You can't expect anyone to kill 6 capital ships in 3 VHF's, can you?:)
@Caribe - Your proposal is good, but that would not solve the problems i have with capital ships. As i said, it is not the faction that spamms them, it's the independants!
It's all about how many capital ships can get involved in one fight on each side, max.

Unless fighters choose to engage me for some reason...I will not attack them.
Unless someone in a trade-ship who should not be docking at Crete for obvious RP reasons tries to dock, I will not attack them. Do not think I have ever shoot at a trade ship before, but just in case.
As for bombers and gunboats it will depend on the situation, who is around, what system I'm in and why, and the RP of it.
Pretty much the only folks I will always be attacking are enemy cruisers, destroyers, and BS's.
If I do travel to Gama with a Corsair fleet I'll will be attacking capships on sight, bombers/gunboats if they engage me, and leaving fighters and any tradeships alone.
If their are no capships, bombers, or gunboats around I'll just sit a way from the fight and watch.
This is all open to change in the case of outnumbering of Corsairs by others. And while in Gamma it doesnt seem right to just sit around while a corsair is being attacked by anything.
Would love to get input on these guidlines for myself and any others anyone thinks would make for more fairness.
I'm not the type of player who says, "hi" on system chat. I take my role as a captain of a ship of the line, with a large crew, and great responsibility. It makes RPing very hard. I even have had Corsairs yell at me. "omg thats so OORP you should of destoryed them." "You cant let them do that." blah blah blah
Again, I'm not in an Osiris to harrass anyone or pvp anyone there might be a small RP reason to. I go out of my way not to pvp in my Osiris.
