All I can say is "deal with it". And don't get me wrong, it's not the insulting kind of "deal with it", rather the advice kind of one, like look for solutions and learn to out smart them.
Pretty much what chopper said. Escorts, varying routes, and so on. As you said, you trade for roleplay, not cash, so you won't mind going around an obstacle. To give you an example, I once went through Leeds, Cambridge, Omega-3, Omega-5, Omega-41, Omicron Theta, Sigma-17, Honshu, New Tokyo, Shikoku, Bering, Colorado to get to New York just because a bunch of pirates were in Magellan (it doesn't always make sense for some chars to use such a route, but it did for mine and it does for IC). I avoided them because earlier that day they, a gunboat+fighter+bomber, caught me, but I still managed to get away. Then those same guys chased me for the entire day, and ended up in giving up, because everytime they caught me again I was near a base. I've also run into Hackers, more than once, and I've always got away, even if I fly mostly solo.
Bottom line, fine some in game solution and try to enjoy the interactions. As far as I'm concerned, they, the Hackers, are doing nothing wrong.
question: how come, that the behavior of an official faction leader reminds me of any random indie lolwut i meet on my corsair? what is so important about your fake money, to be raging over it?
your purpose on this server is not to be making dough. your purpose here is to interact with other players to contribute to the roleplaying environment. im pretty sure you would not complain if someone would use the chat list to meet with you and give you a CAU6 every time. would you?
also - are you complaining about being pirated 6 times on the same spot? are you serious? i understand that there is only one best route, but wow. just wow.
One has to remember that the definition of "metagaming" is not subject to personal opinion. It is subject to a clear set of rules defined by the server and forum ruleset. Accessing threads in Communication Channel that have not been addressed to you and using the information contained within in RP is metagaming. Using the player list to prove in RP that a player was in a particular location at a particular time is metagaming. Using the player list to find players and interact with them ingame is not metagaming, nor will it ever be. It's not against the rules, in fact this is the sole purpose the player list has been created for: to allow for easier interaction.
I am not sure what purpose this thread was supposed to achieve, but I am rather sure it will not achieve taking down the player list or defining looking at the player list in search of interactions as metagaming, neither rule wise nor "etiquette" wise. As was said before, trying to change the rules in your favour because you got pirated is a very poor way of defence and one that won't earn you any sympathy. You are IC, surely you can think of a better way to deal with those pesky hackers than flaming them on the forum for simply being more effective than you.
' Wrote:Crackpunch, want me to find you and kill you on all your characters? I just want to interact! : )
I'll help you with that. I like interaction as well.
You know, we should feel privileged that we get to kill members of such a high standing faction. Now we just need to stop them from running away from us every time.
