Only about 5% of the pirates I have ever encountered were even the least bit interested in any kind of role-play.I've even gave extra for the rp.
But nowadays, sadly, they just want the blue message and all of your cargo.
I agree fully. Rarely do you get a pirate that RP's well...scratch that...comes up with any original RP other then the typical pay or die crap. Why i fly a container mostly now. 1 on 1 i have never lost in my container. 2 plus i pay, or if close to a base i run.
Also i get 2mil or die? I just open up with all 12 guns, and usually kill pirate before he can move. Dirty pool? yup! against rules? Nope! He RP'd the situation, so defending yourself without a word is within the rules. The RP was already met.
Now a good original Pirate that is fun to RP with? In the past i have actually purchased a GB for 1, and made a good protection deal where as he defends me from others for my good behavior to him,and his friends. But that is a rare pirate indeed that made me laugh my ass off.
' Wrote:You have nothing to protect...What about your ship and crew? What about your life? If you want to RP then if your ship is destroyed how are you to buy another one? Sure you can argue it is insured, but would the insurance pay you 20m for a new ship or 2m for paying a pirate??? Pay 2m or die...The alternative your ship is destroyed and you would have the cost of a new one, if this was RL so too speak.
Try RP that your ship and crew are precious items to you and dont just look on it that I can just resapwn and loose my bats and bots as I have no cargo
You are correct, BUT! what if this player just purchased his ship, and has no money left. He is flying empty enroute to go mine, or buy a cheap cargo. 2 mil or dai is just BS for an empty. People forget this is still just a game, and if that player has 0 cred pixles he will not pay you.
Pirates like transports need to treat every single player differently. You do not know the other players situation.

Getting down to the lolpirate niveu isn't a good solution, you might also accidently kill a RPing pirate by that.

Possibly, but a RP'n pirate will not disrupt you,and yell "2 mil or dai". I give every pirate a fair chance, unless they try to rob my out of disrupter range. Then i run for the pirate just being bad at his job.

I think your expectations are a tad over the top. Space is meant to be a rough enviroment, y'know ? Oh, and pirates are supposed to be a-holes.
It's funny how people always complain about how bad this game/mod/community is, yet they are still playing here. Guess most of them are just trying to look cool by saying the whole thing sucks.
I can stand most pirates. When I get lulpirated I take it for what it is and laugh at them. example A got pirated by a Ptrans with 4milordie while showing a newbie the ropes. Laughed as a battleship patrol turned up and wasted him.
Just pay and get on with it. I only really ever encounter pirates in Gallia. Curse you GRP!
One thing to remember about pirates is that essentially their RP is "Money or die." It can be presented with flair. It can be presented with good vocabulary. It can be presented with accent, imperative, or emphasis. At the end of the day, it is still the same thing.
How is that bad RP? I'm a pirate. I am someone so destitute, selfish, or egotistical that I have taken to stealing my livelihood from others. Should I really care that you are empty? Should I really care that you are down on your luck? I'm stealing from you. Stealing. This is my role. You can respond. You can appeal to my judgement or sympathy somehow. At the end of the day, I want to steal money from you, or I will kill you. This is my end of the interaction. It is the trader's job to attempt to appeal to me somehow to stop this.
But please mind, there's a difference between being a jerk as a player and a jerk as a pirate. If someone comes up to me and says sincerely that he has no money and this is his first run, I might end up blowing him up, but then I'll take the time to explain to him that this was an RP interaction, I hope he enjoys his stay here, and I send him some money to get back on his feet. Mind, sincerely is the operative word. It is very clear when someone is lying to gain an advantage. If any trader ever tries this kind of thing with me, suddenly my demeanor changes from understanding to completely disgusted as a player (Amirite, Mr. Geisha-with-a-15-million-bounty-on-his-head?).
And another thing: I notice a trend that anything which negatively impacts a character appears to be "Bad RP." I don't at all agree. I enjoy being pirated. I enjoy meeting a successful pirate. I make the people who attack me work for it as much as the next guy. If they catch and kill me, they deserve it, and if they choose to charge more when someone surrenders, like I do, then I'll gladly pay it. Losing is a part of the game and a part of life. Being comfortable with it is a good skill to have.
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
