If the Zoner faction wasn't such a complete joke, that base would not exist.

If by "the rest of the faction" you mean zoner IDs, thats a seperate faction from OSI now, and OSI doesnt have to care what happens to them. Coin doesnt hurt OSI and it pays them, so it was a good move on their part and INRP.

ALSO: Zoners can easily get permits to pass coin, so it doesnt really hurt them either. Seriously Coin is so easy to get a permit for I dont know why anyone who can get one is complaining.

While it was surely amusing, I wouldn't go as far as calling it a "very good example of a proper RP'd base". The only reason it still exists is that the gameplay mechanics of POBs make it invulnerable, and the manner in which you conveniently skipped the only phase where something could have been done about it.

The Mollys lied to the BAF. Thats hardly OORP.

This thread shows that we have "neutral" traders flood cuz of PoBs. It's kinda ID abusing, but it's not forbidden, so it's OK... So we turn our heads...

And all is OK with GC (easy, GC is just an example), except Zoners made it. I'm deeply sure now that PoB must have ID and only same ID-ed ships should be allowed to dock.

Lack of miners issue:
there is much much more NEW expensive ships/armors than miners. Like never before. This means that ore comes very fast to some players. This means that they haul/sell very fast too. We don't see them when they do it, that's how fast hey are.

Than they make an indie faction and GIVE caps to new members. Why to mine for months than? It's boring and you can't do it alone. All you need is to know a hacker.

Thats silly, NPC bases dont allow only same ID holders to dock, so why should POBs?

I do agree however that all bases should have an IFF so that HOSTILE traders dont dock, so we dont have oorp BMM supplying a pirate base, ect. But the problem is making sure people choos the appropriate ID.

Also zoners didnt make GC, they just helped.

It all depends, some people like that aspect more. Especially after spending so much time flying around the same systems, in a way, you can only do so much before you've done a bit of everything.

I have no problem with people just silently trading and what not because it all adds to the foundation of this 'universe', whereas, there is always stuff going on in the background you may never be involved with (which gives it a sort of depth, making it feel real), but people are still playing the game and keeping this world alive.

everyone spends their time rping for a while, and some move on to working on POB's to have something to show for the time they put in. It provides a basis for others and newcomers to rp around, even if they arent involved in the bases at all.

I would like to see it easier to build and maintain a base, and maybe easier to destroy. it would probably be better to have a higher rate of built/destroyed bases and have new ones pop up as others are destroyed, rather than have one built that can never be destroyed ever. That way its the rp'ing that determines whether a base hangs around for a while or not.

As the guy who proposed the barge in the first place--that was the whole point--to serve as a destructible base that had to be shepherded and protected or kept hidden.

Ironically, bases gave a lot of purpose to the barge.

If you could tie base functions to barges it would be pretty cool--without the defenses.

Theres a good idea. if we have a higher turnover of bases, and bases being easier to make, maintain or destroy, it would do a lot of good in my opinion.

You are absolutely right in this Universe. Supplying by unlawful faction would be too much pain atm. But we can say if this Universe is bad and make better one. How about Universe where:

- just ally factions can dock at eachother's PoBs? (pls do not compare PoB and NPC base's clearance/security issues, as first ones can be destroyed)
- a single pirate transport is good enough for daily supplies?
- you can get your supplies at any Junker or Zoner settlement?
- you can get your supplies at any faction's ally PoB? (like supply PoB chain)

All I'd like to change is that base supplying is too demanding and boring. We all have "neutral" ships for that and we haul, haul, haul... All that "free"-lancers, Junkers, Zoners... Police is letting them pass, pirates look the other way... Neutrality kills all the chances for some PoB generated action, imho.

We are amusing our bases well, but do they amuse us? Why Bass Hunters are trying to destroy damn things so much?

P.S. Sorry for using GC as example, with no propper knowledge about it. Stopped now.

Sorry for seeming dumb but is there a valid reason for advanced technology only being available via POB resources. Why can't I for example buy a cloak somewhere else? Perhaps at a premium price. If POBs cause so many problems, are the products they produce an aspect of that?
