As simple as that sounds, such a change would require every single Heavy Capital gun to be re-balanced to fill the void. Each gun does a certain job and is meant to counter certain things. Each Counter itself has it's own counter (in theory anyway). This is how balance (is supposed to) work(s)

If you take away one aspect, you have to re-shuffle everything else to fill in the gap.


Take TF2 class balance for example: If you take away something like the Spy, then suddenly Heavy becomes Oh-so more powerful, as it's then harder and harder to kill heavies, who are balanced around being easy to kill via spies and snipers. Snipers can still manage it, but the Heavy has some innate counters to Snipers as well. Theres also the fact that not every situation can be solved with a sniper, and map-locations that would otherwise benefit the heavies would immediatly make them a killing-ground.

Balance in any game is quite literally the balance of everything around eachother so that everything is a counter to something else, and can be countered by something else. You keep re-balanceing things until eventually you're left so that the only thing that would give someone an advantage would be skill.

Agreed. It would require balance changes for sure, but would improve immersion to a very large extent.

Turning away from my valor post. I have a few things to input. Mostly about extremely restricting usage, no excuse me, ACCESS.I'm perfectly ok with restricting capitals to some new kind of laxxer SRP request. But I think limiting them to just Official factions is a bad thing to do. Because yes, you may get more people in your faction. I honestly highly doubt that they will rank up and be active enough to get up to the rank in a faction to obtain a battleship, ranks that are usually reserved for High Command of a faction. I think with everything on the staffs plate right now redoing ALL these balances is something that does not need to be done right now. I stand for still allowing open use of battleships to Unofficial Factions or Indies, but just restricting it, like I said make a more LAX srp for it. a battleship usage request if you will. Battleships are something not at all to be taken lightly, it shouldnt be a new players first goal. (Yes im looking at the LNS indies that sit outside Erie) They shouldnt be treated as just another ship that can be built. These ships need to be treated for what they are, the floating fortresses of space, you may or may not see the efforts I try to put in with my two caps that I own (Which tbh wesker you have made lose their charm with the blatant copy paste of my database style). I myself own two battleship caps, an O'Rhu Geb, and a HMS Dunkirk, both of which I have large amounts of RP behind. (RP for my HMS alone is 3 years old). bah im getting off topic though, short story, let unofficial factions and Indies continue to be publically able to use these, just A)Instill exactly why you shouldnt go straight for caps, and B)Make a lax version of an SRP request so people are able to display the RP behind their ships and how they use them. Thats it from me really.

Yeah

upd:I meant they must bring Bombers against Battleships but they attacking with fighters instead of bombers and your battleship can't do anything to 5-6 fighter you will die in 5 minute anyway

The way "Balance" works in this game is basically numbers, 5 heavy battletransports can take care of a single battleship.

battleships can't take care of snubs efficiently(provided you have anti-cap installed on your BS and not Solaris Gatling)
these battleships shouldn't fly alone then, they should have a gunboat or snubs flying with it, if fighters think they can take a battleship down, let them try, but it's your responsibility to make sure they don't, so you either run away, or you call for backup.

IRL, you don't see a single battleship cruising on its own, it probably has frigates and other smaller ships cruising with it along with some AA equipped vessels.

point is, a battleship is a battleship, whether it be an anti-snub one or an anti-cap one, it still has weaknesses, and those people use those weaknesses against you.

Think of 6 fighters attacking one battleship as a simple 6v1 situation. Nothing wrong there, 6 players killing one. It's battleship's fault that he didn't have smaller crafts who can support him there.
