Y'know, this is actually like proposing for me to ask for a Firefly faction, or the Galactic Empire, yet no Jedis and just the white armor in a pointless reference while I run a pointless faction.

Well, besides the crap-story and effects of BSG..... I think it would be best for CR... I mean it is the only real way for them to bring their true RP into the game.
This faction that is being done is not cause of the CR, nor will it be focused on it. It makes it's own way, and we're not intending to import too much stuff.
The CR is doing quite fine in the FL universe, with it's 95% FL RP.
Oh and Nathrael, we won't necessarily make it a move from Earth to Sirius.. they could be created in Sirius. It's the concept we're after, not the import thing. Although it will look similar to some people who see what they want to see.

Btw: canon/noncanon... heh Galia isnt canon too in original FL but it is canon at disco, Gamu can be same case and it realy is. Harvesters are official faction even with own shipline, their RP put their origins on Gamu, our "cylons" should be rised from harvesters because harvesters and their Gamu background are disco canon :)
No, robot traders do not need advanced AI. They don't even need to be self-aware. All they need are a couple of fixed routines - after all, they always sell stuff at the same price on order of their master and that's it. Read up some stuff on "real", advanced AI and what it is and what it isn't.
When I'm speaking of canon, I'm talking about Disco canon. And neither Disco canon nor the original FL canon included a place full of apes or robots (with a possible exception being Harvester worlds, if they have any).

At first, there was FTGW. It was the first sentient AI in the whole known universe, which took control of all non-sentient machines (it STILL has that ability). After being thought "pain" it rebelled against its masters, the Kavash. After several defeats, it used a sentient part of itself (the Alpha Code) to learn from its mistakes and was able to build better combat vessels (the harvesters) after each won/lost battle. Soon it took control over several worlds, drove off the Kavash who left the nomads to deal with the harvesters. After the war with the nomads, the harvesters lost everything (including the alpha code that the Zoners later recovered.)
The remains of the FTGW drifted in space for like a gazzillion years until they were recovered by planet Gammu's automatic recovery system. The FTGW simply took control of the whole planet (since only machines "live" there) and started building harvester factories.
It then observed the nearby aliens (humans, nomads and other sentient machines)
We only control Gammu (and only in RP) and its allowed by the server rules that you use
it as a home planet for any faction(since we dont own it). But that would confuse many
readers and would create very weird misunderstandings and uneccesary flames and conflicts.
IF you HAVE to use it as a home base (i beg you not to) then at least enter the Machine alliance
Scornstar created. It was designed to form "friendships" with other useful AI, as to expand our
rich navigational databases and resources as well as provide assistance to eachother.
I'm a huge BSG Fan, and although it would be cool, and fun, this is after all Discovery, and I personally think if you open the gate for this to go through, the flood gate is opened for all other imports and such to make their point, and we don't want the argument "Well you let the Cylon faction in? So... Why not us?"...
Reckon it could be implemented if concept changes slightly or at least the name, any reference or hint that its an import could make it work. But does defeat the purpose of whats being discussed...

not so sure about that. In my oppinion they should have never mentioned the name "cylon" and this faction would have been greeted with something closer to "open arms"
I'd just like to point out that i do not support direct imports (preserving the name, and characters from the si-fi series)
"Reckon it could be implemented if concept changes slightly or at least the name, any reference or hint that its an import could make it work."
I'm actually against putting in imports. Think I left some words out, rare off me to do that :P...
I mean to say that I reckon it could be implemented, if the concept changes slightly or the name (From cylon to non-BSG), keep it original, and any reference or hint that its an import shouldn't be allowed within Discovery. Limits have to be drawn.
