Yeah, lets see some AWESOME rp from the Phantoms please, they just seem to think everyone is below them, picking on a Miner? Bleugh, lets see them challenge someone who deserves picking on, not bully those who can't defend themselves.

I am fairly disappointed you would let a single incident, not in context and not even complete, form your complete view of something. First off, when someone acts like an idiot, he is treated like one, and I am currently of the thinking that Darthbecks rp was so bad because he knew he had fraps on, and he wanted to give me as little as possible to work with, I have in fact seen Darth rp in other situations, he just wanted a certain outcome for this one to suit what he wanted to post. Second, every interaction is different, and is treated that way, I guarantee you, if he had shown even the slightest bit of interest in rp he would have gotten it. It's funny how fickle this server is, one day my Phantom gets kudos the next it's flames, the next kudos, the next flames. The end of the story in this case for me, was that if this guy wasn't even going to do me the respect to stop mining when I show up, he doesn't care much for rp. That was the thing that pissed me off the most, how much can someone be interested in my rp if they cant stop trying to make money while I am talking? Before you go calling people a bully and telling them how you would be so much better at what they are doing than they are, maybe you should get a more full view of the situation, how long have you been here anyway? How many interactions have you had with Phantoms to make this evaluation? Or is it all from what you have heard from others? Well, you are off to a good disco start, getting in with the right people, as there are tons of friends for you on the traditional old flame the phantoms bandwagon.

• If all they do is rules lawyer, blow them up
  
• If they RP back, RP with them and give them a way to escape

Seen Zapps words, no attempt to RP is the best way to ensure your dead. I just can sign that.
And NO!, lines like "Why you shoot? Stop shooting! Stop! Why you shoot?" isnt an attempt of roleplay at all.
Maybe you should have just stopped mining after he first shot at you and tried then, without trying to collect more shiny ores for your profit to RP with him.
Iam pretty sure that he then would have let you go after you and him had a satisfying conversation (but you can be sure your ship would still be severe damaged, but you would have been alive).

Next:
Dont twist what I said.
You are referrering to the movement of your ship in the end of the video while I was talking about the, prolly not happened, try to escape and his SNAC before you started recording.

It is his right as a Phantom so is it the right of every pirate to deal as much damage as he likes without destroying you before starting to RP at all with you.
You dont believe me? Read it up in the rules.

So, to sum it up:
- you sit there mining
- a Phantom comes and snac's you to see what you are up to
- you continue mining
- the Phantom tells you go "Run for your life"
- you continue mining
- the Phantom continues firing here and there some shots at you, takes out your shields to 'encourage' you to stop what you are actual doing (still mining) and to respong to him
- you continue mining with the above mentioned lines not counting as an attemp to RP
- he blows you up
- you complain


And again....
The Phantom might have talked a bit more,... but it was his right not to do so and seen how you reacted, his decision to blow you up was fine.
You on the other hand have no right to complain about what happened.
Excuse if that might sound harsh for you, but in my eyes, it's just the truth.

sure, it tells you that they want to kill everyone. nothing i have ever seen ingame from the phantoms has made me think of them as good RP'ers. forum RP? sure, write so much that igiss deleates it due to the fact that it is clogging up the forums.


none of that gives you an excuse to PVP everything.

and i dont question that there are phantoms who RP. and RP well. but what i have seen, is nothing but PVPwhorage.
i admit my RP in this situation was awfull. and i dont really have any excuses, but that was one incident. i have had three where the RP from the phantoms was just as bad/worse.


and i dont doubt that they were at one time, a great faction. but all i see now, is a PVPwhoring terrorist faction that seems to care vary little about their RP.

which is why i think, that the admins, and player base, need to look at the phantom faction again, and look at it as they would a brand new faction preposal. i'm not saying we should strip them of their official status, but i am saying they need to be reveiwed.

Heck out of the four odd Phantoms I've seen buzzing about in the last two weeks, it's been pretty poor...

The kids over on Disco UK made their own gang, and nailed it! Their RP had character, lots of it.
Each of the three had really strong personalities. Here, from what I've seen... Weak.

I only have one unlawful character at the moment, and he's still being set up. While he's a Lane Hacker, I'm going to be playing him as a more relaxed sort of guy, less into the physical pirating, and more into the selling of information. However, if you gave me that quality of roleplay in an encounter between our characters, I'd probably do the same as the Phantom and shoot you.

When roleplaying, give out quality equal to what you hope to recieve.

You give bad roleplay, don't expect masterwork roleplay from the other side.

Please tell me more about that... metagaming. Come on, how rediculous it that? If I see the Order again punished for entering Manhattan, it will harden my impression. Why should a human get in contact with a Nomad at all and why is the Nomad not attacking the human imedeately? Seriously... metagaming.

I have had one encounter with the Phantoms yet. Maybe Michael will remember: we met them in Frankfur near planet Holstein and RPed them to have cloaking devices. Everything went fine, they were even RPing back the same way. So I can't complain about their RP for now, even if I think their only purpose it to pew pew stuff up.
