I bet if an admin went though the character files, they would find dozens of Order caps and fighters docked on Crete and Tripoli alone, though i doubt that would affect the whole RP state of things.

As for the Order needing the Corsairs, there is no longer much need as such, though a military alliance to protect against both the BHG Core and the Nomads would be a politically prudent move for both sides IMO, as even with the Corsairs vast military, they are fighting wars on 4 fronts (an incredibile military and strategic feat by any modern standards), and would probably appreciate having an allied military on at least one of those fronts.

So i think that both sides would agree that with the Corsairs fighting on multiple fronts, and the Order fighting a desperate battle with the BHG Core, a military alliance with such a nearby power would be a very helpful thing for both sides. And which, as far as i can see, would be what any sensible leaders in positions of power in either factions would do.

I voted yes, but not as a total state, just in so much as they assist each other in war, i.e. a military alliance.

Edit: @Tommy: What im saying here is in an RP context, its not about how many times you have been helped by a Corsair, its about how i would think both ruling bodies would go about ensuring the mutual continuation of their respective groups. As in, tactiaclly, it would be prudent to seek help when you are fighting on 4 fronts at once, or when you are struggling against a superior military force, and i would assume the leadership of both groups would most likely come to a similar conclusion.

All that mutual helping doesn't really happen. How many times we saw Corsairs in Delta fighting BHG?
How many times they got there only becuase of hunting BHG, or helping Order?
I spend majority of my time on disco in Delta and Minor, and I can't remember when last time I saw that. It doesn't happen. And I don't have anything against that, same with Order in Gamma, I know there are some lolwuts who spend most of their time in Gamma only because of often fights with OC's.
I also don't remember when last time Corsairs used Order as backup and vice versa.

We are a bit to far to support each other in way you folks are saying.

Lots of writing.

The way I see it, the situation is this for the Corsairs.

The Corsairs are fighting a pitched war with the Hessians and Outcasts (2 fronts), a guerilla war against Bretonia (1 front) and a defensive war against the Nomads (1 front).

The easiest war to drop from that list is the one against the nomads. Yaren was created specifically to expand Corsair influence in the nomad systems, but if the alliance dissolves, the Corsairs no longer need to fight a defensive war with the Order. Yaren would probably keep a skeleton crew or, more likely, be deconstructed and recycled for use somewhere else. The current, and I imagine, sizable Yaren garrison could be redeployed, most likely in the war against the Hessians.

Some strong points have been made for the dissolution of the alliance due to outliving its usefulness, both ingame and RP ones. But I will be damned if the Osiris gets removed from our ship list. The infocard may say that the Order doesn't want us to use it, but that's neither here nor there since it is sold on a Corsair Guard base.

You forgot Mollies.
As usual.

But I suppose there must be a reason that often happens...

Because it's not exactly a war. It's more like a set of skirmishes, when compared to the likes of the House Bretonia, the Hessians and the Outcasts. It doesn't take much manpower in comparison to those three to hold back (that said, thats all the Corsairs can spare since other forces are deployed on the four major fronts).

Hmm. That's not exactly as a few unspecified specific others have put it...
Funny, that.

I think the Core is more of an immidate danger than the nomads, and seeing as the Order are, in essance, fighting a loosing battle against a far superior force, it would be best to for the Corsairs to ensure that they have a sheild against the nomads (the Order). Which, should the Core defeat the Order, which is the most likely outcome unless another large military force (the Corsairs) intervene, would leave the Corsairs fighting both the Core AND the nomads, adding a front to the already stretched war.

What im saying, is that it would probably be in the best intrests of the Corsairs to keep the Order alive, to act as a sheild against the nomads and Core, naturally, they would do this by assisting them in fending off the Core, and in fighting the nomads.

Looking at this from a strategic point of view (as no doubt the Corsair and Order leadership would), in the long run, it would be better for the Corsairs to keep the Order around and killing nomads. Naturally, this would be achieved by forging a military alliance, and sending ships and warriors to aid in fighting the Core.

Never thought about it that way, my perspective is a bit dated. I think that's a great tactical reason to keep Yaren as a defensive installation.

@Sprolf: Isn't it wonderful how people express their own opinions through the nameless voices of their peers?

Like I said before, we simply need to create a new osiris (with a different name) as the corsair 'version' of the ship.

Like so:

Phalanx-Class Corsair Battleship:

Guns/Turrets: 0/12
Opt. Weapon Class: 10
Max Weapon Class: 10
Additional Equipment: 1x CM
Hull Strength: 800,000 (Osiris: 700,000)
Max Shield Class: 10
Cargo Space: 1,000 (Osiris: 1,400)
Max Impulse speed: 90m/s
Max Thrust speed: Thruster not available
Power Output: 7,000,000
Power Recharge: 220,000
Other: Reduce turning speed by roughly 5-10% from the Osiris

Originally constructed from stripped-down Osiris plans procured from The Order, the Phalanx has been modified to fit the Corsair philosophy of heavier armor at the cost of manuverability.
Today, the Phalanx serves as a light battleship for the Corsair fleets, preferred over the Legate in more asteroid-filled systems, such as those where the Corsairs war against the Red Hessians."

All the stats outside of armor, cargo, and manuverability remain the same, and perhaps the Phalanx would get a new texture/skin with more corsair influence to it (the bronze colored hull rather than grey/black).

Mmmmhmmm...

I actually find that practise rather annoying, to be honest.

Truth be told, I really would prefer it that the Corsairs and Mollies were fighting on the small level that you describe.
I am of the opinion that the Mollies should be focused on Bretonia.

Evidently the infocards (and a few others) say otherwise.
"Corsairs are flooding into Dublin, the Mollies are barely holding them back," et cetera and so forth.

That obligates the Mollies to focus on the Corsairs more than the Bretonians.

I find that irksome and rather contradictory to the Mollies' purpose.
I wish that they didn't fight the Corsairs as much as they're supposed to.

That is that and I am certainly not one to "express my own opinion through the nameless voice of [my] peers." My opinion is mine. I shall stand upon said opinion, because it is what I believe - and that is that.

Why would I say anything that isn't my opinion? It would certainly not be to spare myself from your ill-will.
