hehe - in metaseque - making a little concept like that takes you like 1-3 minutes. - however making a "good" model takes a lot longer of course. ( not really the modelling, thats quick - but the idea about what to model )
anyway - i stand to it that AoM should do the gunship, cause he made the orca. - i find that AoM has a very specific way to texture and model ships - kind of a handwriting ( i think one can usually tell what ships are AoM - as much as one can tell what ships are legenation, xing, epyon - and i guess mine, too )
personally - i am not sure why the BHG needs a gunship at all. - i m not really fond of the orca - but thats cause i find the speedboat / katamaran shape silly ( not about the model, but about a subjective opinion of the shape as such ) - i guess when the orca is fixed ( front gun ) - its fine enough. - it might be on the bigger side of gunboats - but the other capital ships are rather smallish - so it makes up for it.
edit: i think the reason i don t like the battleship concept as much as the other is that the bridge is a seperate piece on top of the body. - BHG ships are very compact... and i like the bridge being inside the hull on the destroyer / battlecruiser.
the destroyer concept is still the very best
one little thing - maybe you can try to make the horizontal wings really horizontal. on the hammerhead they are actually horizontal - the upper side of the wing is slightly pointing downwards - but not cause the wing is pointing downwards, but cause its actually a triangle when you look from the front. ( the wingbase is quite thick )
but its hard to comment on that stuff before we see the model in 3d.
here ya go, i'm done modeling the Destroyer and Battlecruiser. due to time constraints, i don't think i'll be able to do the battleship but i feel these two will provide a good starting point if someone were so inclined to keep them all looking similar.
these are in .dwg format, which transfers fairly easily into 3dsmax. they aren't textured hardpointed or any of that. all i have done is modeled it. i don't have the means nor skill to do the rest. so basically for these to be added into the game someone else is going to have to take over. if interested PM me and i can email you the file.
To tell you the truth, I don't think you took the right design features from the BHG shipline. They just look like oversized mantas to me. They don't look like cap ships, they look like weird fighters.
They look like a damn good start to me, although they could use a little something- maybe a control rig or something, to give them some sort of scale. A bridge might work.
