On Windows Vista/7

Right click on the shortcut that you normally use to start Freelancer then click Properties (Shown by the arrow) like so;

You will get a form showing this;

As the above image shows, use the Target field (Shown by the arrow) to add " -dx" to get the game to automatically go to your Desktop resolution, so it will be the same size as what you use for the desktop. You can also add it in manually like in the picture such as " -d1920x1200", replacing the numbers with your desired resolution. Remember to have a space between the end of the shortcut target and the start of the widescreen parameters, like so:

"E:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe" -dx

Kudos to Enko for this great write up.

Other command line options

The following command line options can be added to the shortcut.

-dx
Widescreen support, where the screen size is set to the current desktop resolution
-dWxH
Widescreen support, where W = screen width and H = screen height.
-noflighttext
Hide the "Mouse Flight" and associated text on the hud.
-nohud
Disable hud
-logchat
Log chat to My Documents\Freelancer\dsace.log
-logappend
Do not delete the dsace.log everytime freelancer is start. Append new chat to the existing file.
-logtime
Include the timestamp in chat log
-localtime
Show the timestamp in local time rather than UTC.
-newplayer
Enable new player messages. By default new player messages are disabled
-dptplayer
Enable departing player messages. By default departing player messages are disabled
-lag
Show the lag indicator icon. By default the lag indicator icon is disabled.
You just need to read entire post.

Before you begin

If you've already installed a manual widescreen mod you'll need to remove this before trying the following. Specifically the cameras.ini, fonts.ini and richfonts.ini should be restored to their original settings.

- If you are docked when you first login, you can only see a single icon at the top of the screen. This is normal. Once you launch to space and dock again all of the icons will be displayed. At some point once I've finished about 30 other things I'll try to fix this.

- The font sizes are not optimal when compared to some manual mods.

On Windows XP

Right click on the shortcut that you use to start Freelancer, select '€œProperties'€:

Edit the '€œTarget'€ field in the Properties window and add "'€“dx" to the end of the line. This will set your Freelancer to your current desktop resolution. The example below shows this

As the above image shows, use the Target field (Shown by the arrow) to add " -dx" to get the game to automatically go to your Desktop resolution, so it will be the same size as what you use for the desktop. Remember to have a space between the end of the shortcut target and the start of the widescreen parameters, like so:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe" -dx

Alternately you can manually specify the resolution by adding "-dHxW" rather than -dx where H is the height and W is the width. For example for a 1400 by 900 monitor use -d1400x900.

FullHD works fine, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR SO QUICK SOLLUTION! But I have to go out of base every time I log in, to get all benefits. I hope it will be taken care of in v4.86, as fullHD is common res. these days.

Is there a way to show it on new dll?

I really miss this text.

Same problem as above reply.
Windows 7 (x64)
Target field: "C:\Users\sick\AppData\Local\Discovery Freelancer 4.86.0\EXE\Freelancer.exe" -dx -lag -logchat -logtime

There is a space between every "-command". Is this the wrong format? The "-dx" command does work, the rest doesn't.

An unfounded opinion of another is a reflection upon oneself. -Me (awesomeness)
