CDs can be used to engine kill, turn, fire, drop your pursuer out of cruise.

There's also no reason why a Liner can't be turned into one half of a piracy team. CD them, demand cargo (or kill them if they run) then pick up loot.

I don't see CDs as major benefits to Liners/Transports in general, but they do have some uses.

I am not an impartial party but I have a few things to say.

A) Guns over speed. When I want to run I can get away just fine, but when I am forced to fight a decent enemy, I am SOL. With the shear size of liners that extra 50 speed is not going to help nearly enough.

B) AoM I kinda want to keep that CD thank you. SU has used liners as raid vessels in the past and will do so in future.

C) I and the rest of the SU have come to terms with the liners new stats. Actually we have become quite accustomed to the new hold size.

These constant changes to the Liner class is causing a logistical nightmare for me. As such I support the creation of more transport class turrets and restricting the fighters turrets off of the transports.

The liners need improved firepower which can be settled by adding more class 7 turret mounts.

I said this once before in another thread, turn liners into fortress among trade ships and I will glady accept buying a license just like battleships.

nice, i agree with that again, it would be interesting to dogfight against a liner
then again, my viper's weps would do jack against a liner

@ Nexus: What you suggest will make the liners tougher than Gunboats. In this case it should be prohibited to pirate with liners.

I stay with my pov. Mine Droppers instead of CD's for transports and liners.

I agree in making turrets lvl 6 for transports and turrets lvl 7 for liners or vice versa. Atm we have no turrets lvl 6. Also fighter turrets should not be mountable any longer on transportsners.

Speed -does- help and this is about not only defense, but making a liner that is more efficient at going from port to port.

I understand that concern, but this is beta so we all must adjust as things change.

Or let's just fix the class 7 turrets so they're useful, and maybe turn class 6 turrets into Liner turrets. However, turning liners into 4000 cargo space do-it-all armored tanks makes them the only ships anyone would want to trade in. Good with the Bad. Benefit with Drawback. If you don't do this you don't see anyone in any other trader class.

Anyway, this thread was meant to be considered by Igiss -IF- he decided he didn't have time to do a serious rework of Liners/Turrets/Hardpoints which is much more difficult than changing cargo and spee stats. The more full blown Liner question was meant to be handled in another thread.

Well first of all, I would be happy to have a license if you gave my P-Liner back its 3 level 8's. And sure if it does end up tougher then a GB I will forgo pirating with it. As of right now that CD is much more useful then a mine dropper. You can't exactly turn a liner use it as an effective weapon. Dropping them at chasing enemy's does little more then make them strafe.

EDIT: @Morrigan forgive me for being very defensive about my baby. However the faster speed is not only very unuseful for dodging the law or pirates (They are the size of some battleships! Nova's / Supernovas have very good accuracy against them) It is also odd that a vessel this size can out run a firefly or behemoth.
