' Wrote:Nonsense. This is clearly a liner for the discerning paranoid maniac.
It's industrial lines, no-nonsense design aimed for protection screams I CANT AFFORD TO BE BLOWN UP.
Seriously, it's like awesome liner.
I want one.
A....a mite big though.
Larger than a RM BS is massive.
But no, i want one. NOW.
Aye. Generally, it's meant to be more armored and more flexible (in terms of RP anyway) than its smaller cousins. I imagine it'd also work fairly well as a corporate flagship, too, if one so desired to use it as such, as it'd be pretty heavily armored and armed (while being balanced, of/c) and a very modular design..
It's actually not as long as the RM BS by about maybe fifty meters, and a lot less wide and tall.
Also, for the whole 'modularity' thing, I was thinking perhaps a secondary 'ID' like thing could be used, it'd not impact its performance any, but it'd be used to signify what the user currently has it modded out to be. (They'd also be somewhat expensive but not really, maybe around 4 million since it's technically doing hull mods on it, and they'd only be available at shipyards, like the two in New York). So let's say someone has use of it as a luxury liner, they'd use a 'Luxury Liner Mod'. If say a House wanted it as a diplomatic transport, they'd use a 'Diplomatic Mod'. Now, this part isn't really necessary as part of the ship's concept, you can just tell someone you're roleplaying with what you use it for, either through your roleplay name or through roleplay with the other character, however, this 'tag' system would be good in that someone can find out without you having to waste time telling them, as most people will scan the ship upon meeting them anyway.
Trying to use the say Luxury Liner in the mod now for anything other than a luxury liner gets rather iffy, due to it already being specified as such; a luxury liner, same thing goes for the slave and prison liner. The yacht could be used for stuff like this but variety never actually hurts, and some people may want something bigger, tougher, and with more teeth.

People like intelligence agents. People like me.
But that is a swell idea, bout the ID's.
' Wrote:I love the model, just has a ton of guns for a liner in my opinion. Otherwise, I love it! Kudos!
I'll admit, I always felt the amount of turrets that battleships have over cruisers increases disproportionate to their size. For instance, the RM battleship (fun little ship to use for these types of scaling conversations, isn't it?) only has 7 more turrets than its little brother, the cruiser, while being nearly 20 times larger in terms of volume. Now true, the turrets are of higher caliber (though if it had more they'd be less so, I imagine) but it still means that if hitboxes were tighter, it'd be easier to find poorly protected areas to sit at in say, a bomber or gunship.
As for this liner of mine, it does have a lot of turrets, yes. However, it is very large, many of the turrets can only fire to one side, and transport turrets have rather low range and damage for a ship of this scale, even for a civilian ship. Gunboat turrets on those bigger-looking circle mounts might be cool (with the rest being transport turrets), like all razors, which really isn't that overpowered for a ship so large and since four can only fire to the bottom or top and barely to the sides. Solaris turrets, as well as gunboat primaries, are problematic due to their laughably low range (and transport turret 4s are pretty much the same but with slightly less damage and a lot less energy consumption), while Solaris battleship turrets are very much disproportionate and would just be... wrong on a civilian ship. Honestly, battlerazors would be a nice, decent choice because they're not too long range, so they're purely defensive, they're not greatly damaging, and they can be used against a decent range of targets that attack it. You can't do anything like challenge fleets, but you can at least defend yourself fairly decently, not to mention a ship of this scale likely would lack a thruster, which makes a huge difference. The rest of the turrets would likely be transport turrets of whatever kind the user chooses.
EDIT: Also, here's a quick little picture I did for size comparison purposes
why do people keep saying "it has too many guns" it has less guns than ALL the other liners in the game and is like 2x as big as them, please use your eyes and brains in tandem when posting.
the model is doublessly fantastic, i would have no complaints if this were placed into the mod, maybe with like 7500 cargo if its so big :>

I can't help but agree with this statment 150%.
The ship is awesome, and the concept even more so. I think your ideas for balancing versus defensive aggressivness are spot on.

Actually, there's more than the eight gunboat razors, which are more for fending off gunboats than fighters or bombers, as razors are best against the latter when jousting, and you likely won't do much of that in this. There will be maybe about 10-17 more turret slots, but instead being transport turrets, which really isn't a huge amount considering a few of those can only fire to one side, there's only three placed on each side, and most transport turrets like type fours are very low range.
