Yep, exactly.
Truth being, no one wants balance.
They want what they want when they want it.
What transports need is a minimum of twelve turrets and the power core to match. Make every transport equivalent to a Shire or Akegata, with 360 coverage...

This. Even though I myself am a pirate, it does seem a little silly that a lone pirate should be able to take down (what should be) a heavily armed and armored transport without backup.
You would think that big corporations with tons of money would invest in some decent anti-snub weapons for their transport ships, especially when they keep getting robbed over and over again by lone bombers.
Pirates claim traders need to run with escorts if they don't want to die.
I say pirates should have to collaborate if they want to take on targets larger than freighters on their own.
Yes indeed, some are just awefully easy to destroy.
But I think they should be buffed in terms of powercore and amount of weapons. However, I do not want to have a lot of Transports being able to destroy GBs solo.
I think the BW Transport is a good example to orientate at.

They are not. A correctly piloted medium transport can fight any single snub on even grounds (except light fighters, they're impossible to hit.)
5k transports with guns can simply continue on their way while hosing into the pirate's general direction to keep him busy.
Transports without guns are piloted by people who bought them on purpose.

If you have that feeling, just try training your transport-skills. Train them as much as you train other skills and you will get just as good with your transport as you are with every other ship.

Yes, some fighters are equally easy to destroy. It's those with the untrained pilots. Buffing anything won't help a bit. People just have to know how to use their equipment.
The BWT is a really bad example. The turrets have bad firing-arcs for defense and the entire ship turns so slow that you have to fly it like a 5k in case of an attack. The entire front row of turrets is completely useless in case of a snubcraft attack. People who fly them do it because they like the ship's looks, not the combat-value.

Bull. most 5k's are so bulky and low armored that a single bomber has no sweat at all against them. Train is the only one that actually stands a chance, and thats because its very thin.
Most 5k's also only fire 3 or so guns behind at most. Rhein and liberty 5k's only fire 1 behind.
Furthermore, transports are the only way to make money. Making these vessals basically pinyatas for pirates is absolutly retarded all things considering. Your post makes me think that you have not flown a transport in a good long while. "Hosing" the general direction does not work with anything less than a shire or akegata, and those that try will really not do much while getting pelted by any bomber. heck, a gb can sit on a transports arse and dodge everything thrown at it due to the speed of most transport guns.
Basically, Aeternus Doleo, to answer your question: The reason transports dont have guns worthy or even remotely useful vs snubs, is becuase the dev team listens to the bomber-babys and pirate factions who shoot at these things, more than using their heads and common sense. Im looking at mjolnir on that one.
It doesn't really bug me that you don't get along flying them.
But if you don't even like flying them I suggest you earn your credits some other way. This game is meant to be fun. There's no use in pushing a transport around if you don't like to do it.

1. This not about medium transports owning flocks of LFs and VHFs. This is about the general poor defensibility of all transport types against nimble bombers. Most solo pirates use bombers with a SNAC. Those are designed to take down Battleships, so Transports don't stand much of a chance. At this point the only "spraying" weapons available to transports are fighter turrets, hence why this thread is suggesting altering the stats of the Transport Turret Type 4 into something more useful.
2. When any response boils down to "buff ur skills, lol" I tend to disregard anything said before or after.
Well, Type 4s are hard to use, admittedly. They are not the most versatile either. Equipping them makes the battletransport-line unable to defend against gunboats. Equipping them on a 5k doesn't make any sense, because of the short range in relation to the ship's length.
It took me a long time to be able to use them effectively on medium transports. I never met anyone else who considered them effective against snubs in PvP. The problem is not hitting your target, but keeping the shields down to do any damage.
But then again, I never met anyone who liked the type 1s much. That's usually because of range and refire-rate.
This comes down to using type 2s and type 3s. If you see it that way there really is not much variety in usable transport-turrets.
What would help the type 4s popularity a great deal would simply be a better shield-damage ratio. That way it would be possible to use them efficiently against snubs, but they would still be no good against a gunboat.
Another possibility would be to introduce an EMP-missile turret for transports. This could even replace the current type 1 turret and would well be used in the same weapons group as an array of type 4 turrets.
