Sounds to me like your LCD monitor is dying. You could buy an extra monitor and hook that up and hit Fn+F4-8(different on each laptop, should be 2 ovels seperated by a line, one filled in and one not) to use the second monitor.

try doing a printscreen and post it here, if we can see the whole picture then its probably the monitor itself thats going bad, if there are black splotches on the printscreen version you might have a video driver error.

It's definitely hardware here. I used to be able to fix it by applying physical pressure to the screen. Bugger.
