Imagine that the PoBs got removed and then the casual big brawl still crashes the server with 20 ships.
This is not the answer- better donate for the server box and learn how to help if you have the time.

It's not the limitations of the server itself. It's the limitations of the Freelancer software and the additional instability from using flhook. It doesn't matter how good the server box is when the software doesn't natively support multi threaded processing and isn't large address aware.
Edit: Also, bases haven't changed combat at all, except now most of the capital ships are AFK shooting into empty space.
Would it help to decrease max server load back to 200? I can remember that FL was running smoother for longer periods of time back then. And the 225 are not used anyway most of the time. I cannot remember the date when I could not connect because of too many players online.
And: removing PoBs is not an option. It's a new, cool key feature that is just being tested and balanced, experiences of how to use them, how to make them work are just being made... so scrapping it is out of the question anyway.

It was around 210 yesterday, and server was running smooth as silk. No big fights at the time, I was looking for them.
