You know, closed factions are closed for a reason, its like a bunch of peeps having a few systems doing nothing but wondering one at a time to keep its "official" status alive, Pointless faction at the moment, but I guess its a skype-friend invite only sorta thing, which just shows how worthless it could be. I think it's something they would have done by now instead of logging 2 days of activity for the past two years to keep their officialty.

Mind if I remind you, that most wilds use no tag in order to be not metagamed and recognized at 14k already? Which in most cases either follows with a merciless gank or getaway.

The only good thing I see in opening the wild ID, would be, that people would finally see how unsatisfying it can be to play an (actually undercover nomad, disguised as human) infectee, who is supposed to be not recognized as alien at any scanning range. And the tech being used doesn't matter at all.

And explain me, how one should RP an infiltration successfully, when everyone knows who you are? Even veterans or official faction members give a *bleep* on their ingame RP. The forums is the only place where they can do quality RP, which time/effort however isn't included in the activity tracker.

If Das Wilde wouldn't have to reach the monthly 30 hours - they'd use non-tagged ships only. And, yes - they do mostly log their tagged ships to reach said 30 hours only - since years already.

I'd disagree there. Scanning isn't an out of roleplay thing (unlike the Wilde tag itself, which I'd treat as "not there" in any encounter). Seeing -Nomad weaponry- (or hell, even "Unrecognized weaponry with strange biological components") should raise alarm bells.

Perhaps not blow your cover entirely - you could roleplay your way out by pretending to be a BDM pilot or something - but it definitely should make someone suspicious.

No tag, pure human tech - I tried it many times by myself.
And none - yes none of the encounters I had where any different than those I had with the tag and full nomad tech.

It's a sad fact most people won't believe. However, it's what I've expierenced - and it told me that it makes absolutely no difference what you're flying, because in the end, one will always see the obvious ID and make use of his engage-nomad-on-sight-right.

Anyhow, they can live with this, and as long as there won't be some fake/undercover ID and satisfying solution for the activity tracker, to actually be able to roleplay undercover nomads - they will carry on as they already did for years.

As if this was an unknown problem. It's just that none cares for the 1%.

I'd say the only real way to roleplay an actual undercover Nomad would be to use the faction's ID, IFF, tag, everything.

Yes, there will always be lolwuts who somehow come across your roleplay thread that tells them about your infectee status and use it ingame. It's an unfortunate truth. However, given how most of the community* will probably never even read that thread, they won't know either. And those people who are capable of roleplay and are interested in roleplaying with your infectee as well will read your thread.

Win-win.

A special engagebung ID for infectees works, but not in the undercover Nomad way. The ingame behavior I've seen from Wilde is mostly highly hostile raiding behavior (which I'd expect from the "raiding party" the Wilde are, no?), with a tiny bit of undercover roleplay mixed in when that magic mix of roleplay-willing players end up in the same place.
Any undercover Nomad wouldn't blatantly shoot anything, ever. Their name would be registered, the ways to recognize them would be public, and so forth.
The only time they'd ever kill someone is in a perfectly arranged execution with no witnesses to tell the tale (which is never going to happen ingame as death is just "I had to use my escape pod").

*) This includes the dozens of LNS caps that powertraded their way up to their beeg sheep to be able to say "Halt pierat, u must dai".

Yes, you just pointed out that roleplaying an undercover infectee is impossible.

There actually are the "open wilds" as raiding unit with obvious nomad tech and aggressive attitude, where also the scorpion is used.

Then there are the undercover agents who fly pure human ships, trying to gain informations, infiltrating important places, inciting houses against one another and infecting people.

Now imagine what is easier to RP ingame (and on the forums).

Just put a line on the WIlde ID saying you cant see that it says Wilde. Then change it so they dont HAVE to have the Wilde IFF, cos that is supposed to be the INRP indication of what faction a character belongs to, so you cant fault a character for recognising them by it.

Wilde had a good example of undercover RP when they started the Rhienland/Bretonia war, although that required players not using these indicators that they were wilde. Therefore i say itd be good if they could be officialy negated by gameplay means, as otherwise not everyone will view them the same way.

Only a few id's can Since recently.. Point is the nomads allowed people to break the rules in a way. For this reason it could Also in a way be turned around. Nomads can now even shoot On sight with no RP. Look at the open noms. 1 difference with the faction They try still to do rp. Something What is very hard nowadays due to many instant running and removal of the / setmsgs. And well insta engage whats new? If you want to make a huge load of reports. Just fly nom and wait till They just shoot On you.
