Maybe Penn just needs to be a seperate system similar to conn but for new beginners with a one way jump hole to the major houses or faction depending what they want to be (Not sure how the rep sheet would work tho) . Would just stop the mass influx of players just directed to Liberty and nothing else

And that is a good idea as well. Separate system (not excluding /restarts as well), neutral reputation for newbs, and seven gates to each house` capital system, just in front of base/planet (One way?). No limitation on OOC in system, etc...

very good idea. gives them a chance to ask for help, and allows them to choose where they want to go and not just funnel them to lolberty. maybe, a signpost or something near each gate that says where it goes, and whats in that house/area. i.e. factions, places etc

I find systems like Rishiri, Yukon, Chester, Omicron Lambda and Zeta completely useless. They only add more travelling time whenever needing to pass through them to get to somewhere, while having little of value inside those systems in the first place.

Then there's Gallia which is absolutely filled to the brim with whatever the devs could conjure. The average amount of planets in a Gallic system is something near 10, while a regular Freelancer system doesn't pass the 3 number mark on most occasions. Same thing applies to those systems when talking about asteroid fields. As a result, those Gallic systems look really out of place and overdone.

I have to agree with Doj. Gallic systems are huge.

I have to second Doj's comment, I feel that many of the systems are abit pointless or obsolete at this moment, except i know that Zeta will become a battleground for Core, Order and Nomad in the next patch, other than that Im still not sure how useful or active other systems will be.

Exactly my point, but researching this matter is hard, without risking myself to ridicule I think most people play disco to shoot ( its a shooting game after all ) - so I think factions should offer more than just "talking" - For Instance, I personaly love to communicate as much as I love to shoot, but I would never join a OSI/Phoenix faction like because we might argue they have good rp or what not, but it still does not stand on my standards and wishes.
If this was an individual case most people would tell me to piss off, but realize that even though I dont have the exact numbers, most people around here are with me on this one and factions should go "crazy" every now and then just to refuel the excitment in people. That's my opinion.

Tel, the only one thing I want to tell you on that, I've learned it once I decided to start modelling - If you dislike something, go and change it yourself.

If you are not found of the way factions run - start your own, employ newbs, have some headache, push through and you will get profit.

This is actually I am thinking to make myself, so far building some faction concepts and so on....

But yet again - how about starting the Skype support channel?

Cheers, but we both know this step can be so much easier if the community were more "welcoming" to new ideas and new changes because despite what people say, and they might say the opposite, the actual stuff on the ground is far from it, it is not very welcoming and that should be changed first. You can open that support chat and it will be great if the admins can add some kind of link in the public announcements

Well, thank god for the player list eh? Sure it's sort of meta-gaming but without that...contact would be extremely rare.

Tel, if community is less welcoming than you`d want it to be, then be welcoming yourself to compensate it.
Please note, that complaining about the attitude level does not making thing appeal better.

I sure hope I don't buggar up this quote

I had to open the Discoinstall.exe with 7zip to extract DATA, EXE and other folders directly onto FL installation, because Installer asks for missing files of FL installation, which probably were removed by a vendor.
I`d go with an Installer, which does not check the consistency of FL, so it does not give up installation process because of missing readme.pdf file or so...

An installer is the best method across all categorizes for the method to install a mod and I'm sure there's a good reason for it verifying Freelancer.
My point was: In order to install and play Discovery you must have Freelancer installed (which means owning it).
Freelancer is not an easy game to come by unless you peruse ebay and 'flea markets', hell it isn't even on GOG (Good Old Games).
With very few avenues to acquire the base game people who find out about Discovery will have a hard time getting hold of Freelancer and many more won't bother once they discover you cannot buy Freelancer through current distribution methods (Digital delivery, Physical retail).
Problem is there's nothing we can do about this unless the developers are granted permission by the copyright holder(s) to provide the base game (Freelancer) with the Discovery mod.
(I know nothing of copyright or law so proceed beat me with sticks if I'm wrong)
Small points
-There is nothing anyone can do about the community other than know who and what to ignore, for new players that filter takes time to develop provided you don't quit before that happens, look at this thread as an example of when you can turn on your filter.
-A primary problem is that people cannot and will not stop themselves from complaining about the community thus they derailed a thread that COULD have been a constructive consolidation of good ideas
