Not really.
SPOILERS
If you listen to what Orillion said, the Nomads viewed humans as a threat and wanted to exterminate them by turning them against each other and mop up the rest. What I believe is that the Coalition and Sol still exist, but like the Alliance, the Coalition has been dissolved because there is no more threat from the Alliance. Also, they have probably spread from Sol into other star systems, like in the Sirius Sector, which is made of mulitple star systems, not just one.

The Sirius system is in the Milky Way Galaxy also, so it should really be:
Tests showed that it linked to the Sol system.

I see the extended intro like a deleted program in a DvD box set. They decided not to use it for one reason for another, and so dosn't really have any impact on the FL universe.
On the note of the coallition, I think that to a degree they would have fractured, but far less than the Alliance did. I mean, the Alliance was based on the ideals of freedom, so they had the 'freedom' to diversify. The Coalition's veiws on freedom are slightly differant. They probably dissolved into different states like previously suggested, but would be ruled by one major, central Coalition dictatorship. Probably based off Earth.

19 years after the war with the nomads, a new system is discovered, and in the system is the discovery of the decade. In the system, was a Nomad Hyper Gate. Tests showed that it linked to the Milky way.<snip>
@JohnSheppard, put simply, I don't like your idea. I just can't see the houses suddenly dropping everything and putting all their differences aside, to mount an offensive on earth. I mean, they didn't do it in the first Nomad conflict when their very lives were at stake. They just carried on their petty conflicts leaving outlaws and terrorists to save all their butts. If a Nomad hypergate were discovered, I'd say more likely the houses would fight to control it.
ps. I would make more sense for the Order to drum up support and mount some kind of punitive expedition to Earth themselves.

good point, the houses as people would say are "idiots":P.
The Order would most likely be the people out of any to find a Nomad Hyper Gate and use it to attack Earth/Sol, so they could live in peace from the houses once and for all.

I kinda have a beter story then yours, just invented it from yours and by rewading all posts and i think most of you ill agree:
The liberty patrols that were exploring the Unknown system found a hyper gate to Sol system. Most of the houses found it not long after and most the game would take part fighting for it. But once most fighting for it done, Trent and his patrol decide to pass in it in the same battleship as they got to unknown in the previous game. But once passed the other side of the gate they found nothing but dist of planets a huge "metalic" like base of nomads with lots of battle ships and gunboats. Then the other houses pass in the hyper gate as well and once everyone is at the other side of the gate there is a big war between all the houses and the army of nomads. You must survive in it and end up killing all nomads.
I know i make lots of errors (am not english) but this is a good start if microsoft finaly decide to make a FL2 (even if i think they wont)
so what do you think?
I really like that! It makes my idea look like runescape lol (incase nobody knows what runescape is, it's a sort of medieval online game, which is boring and **** graphics).
It makes alot more sense that the houses all fight for it.

The milky way galaxy was destroyed. The Nomads used that weird huge cannon thing (as seen in the extended intro) to destroy all the planets we know today. Earth, Saturn, Uranus, Jupiter, everything was destroyed. The Alliance was destroyed, the Coalition was destroyed, everything gone. So I don't see how you would "take back earth" considering there is nothing in the milky way galaxy anymore.
but in jonhpath's version of FL 2, he says that all the houses spend the time fighting each other over the gate, and then when the Order go to the Milky way they find all the planets as red uninhabitable things, only the closest planets to the sun were destroyed, because the 1 survivor was on pluto so pluto wasn't destroyed. And then theres also a big nomad base they have to destroy.
