Jack, RP is not just verbal, but actions of characters as well.
What you are trying to advocate is that server could force roleplay which is OoC for some of my characters. There is simply nothing my sair has to say to hessians in RP. Nothing. And any requirements to do so ruins my chracters natural course of action which he would take.
While with junker he might talk, with some of his enemies he has nothing to talk about.

All I can say is: Be more creative. There are tons of things you could say, if you cared enough to think about it.
And: Yes, the server forces you to do roleplay, even if you think it is ooc for you. But that mistake lies entirely with you, not with the server rules.

No, it does in fact limit player choices with their character development. It limits gaming atmosphere. It limits possible player count. A lot of the game stands on those semi-silent capital ship players like it or not. And altough they roleplay isn't about politics of high level, but their character does not require it.
All he needs to play is an effective soldier, and in many cases they do fulfill this role very well. While official faction leaders, players who wants complexity can have their politics, guide faction development, make treaties and such. But all they do is create structure. And while it's possible to play with frames, it's much more fun whenyou have many people populating it.
Now you tell me to be more creative with my character? Sorry, but I don't swing that way. I don't bend my character just to fit some outside goal. It develops how it develops, it's a closed system within the frame of the game itself.

By that logic, my coalition char should pew everything red.
but i dont, because my character is that way. rather than just deciding to shoot enemies, the char sees it as their duty to spread the views and ideals of the coalition trough words and not gunfire.

Straw man. Read again, because I don't know how I can explain it differently. Maybe my english skills limits me.
Daily reminder that you're required to RP before engagement and not actually warn the enemy that you'll engage. You can still do the cheap move and instakill out of a sudden without even hinting you're going to kill your enemy. I wonder why I haven't seen that being abused?
Disco is a place where too easily players could power troll ruining countless other players experiences if RP were dropped preceding an engagement. Things happen fast, but in the end we still have to accomodate for certain things. This is a game, you want some time to react, giving you the chance to get player interaction out of an encounter, not just a kill or death. We all know a lot of time goes into this, losing a shipment or special cargo in the blink of an eye can also be something that drives players away from the game. I'd say more people would leave after looking away for few seconds for something in RL and getting wasted without warning, than needing to drop a line and wait a few seconds to see if they respond first.
Non RP combat is for non rp servers, or conn. Oh but no one plays the non-rp servers right? Because most people want the rp aspect of it, some people just want to take advantage of the numbers it draws to give themselves more targets. One thing I've learned is that the real fun comes from playing along, even if you die or lose your fight.
