well, then there is the expense of a ship, but on top of that, the kind of feeling to the person advertising should've felt when another guy called it Scum, well, I am helping out, I can tell them not to flame/rage/troll and restrict such stuff to flood. I cant enforce it. so, if this continues, we might have to rename welcome secti8n into 'Faction Flame Warz' section.

Advertising wont help in anyway...

Instead the newbies should be instructed as to how to apply for a faction inRP,directed to the factions thread and be told of the candies they can enjoy in factions,be it official or unofficial.They can then choose the faction that might suit their interests after reading stuff in the faction threads.

Without this info,when I was new here,I applied for VR OORPly and when I look back at it today,I couldnt help but laugh :|

Errr, I guess it's okay to invite newcomers to one's faction. As it increases their experience curve a lot. And I pretend, that people who join a faction early, stay longer, and dedicate more time to the game. They'll also realize faster if the server is fun to them.

Of course it might be awkward sometimes when people fight with each other, in terms of whose faction is better. Though, on the other hand, at other online games, factions or better said - clans - are a rather elitist thing, and newbies have a hard time to get invited into one. Of course this applies more to larger communitites. But still. It's a nice gesture to advertise one's faction to newcomers.

Advertising a faction or more factions in the "Welcome" is ok by me. It's easier to learn how things work in disco if a new member applies for a faction from the start.

That said, I'm running low on creds and I wanna join a "money making" faction. Who wants me?

Advertising is part of how you attract members. You don't wanna do it, fine. Don't go trying to tie the hands of folks looking to fill their ranks or help new players out.
