well i have to say one thing, junkers alway ad the possibility of creating a capital class ship. but junkers always was the scrappers who can pick up whathever and retrofit it with gods know what... would make more sense for them jus use other factions "retrofitted" caps, anyway could be cool for the to have at least some sort of cruiser for "problems outdoors" as into the houses they rely on house military for self defense.... unlike IMG who besides miners are also ship builders and designers who live far from any lawful authority, and they have the means to design and create that class of warships (and motives to do so)

Because they're not small at all. Because they got bases all around Sirius in real hot spots. Because they developed capital ships in cooperation with a militarized mini-house and why not use them if they have access to them.

Junkers have even deeper connections and more bases all across Sirius. Where's our battleship? )))
Same can be said for numerous other factions. Hell, even GMG is more likely to have a battleship, yet, they don't have a single cap. Not even a gunboat.
1. Running costs.
2. Too much attention from house lawful organizations. After all, the junkers are quasi-lawful.

(06-26-2014, 12:05 PM)Max Morse Wrote: You do realise the same arguement as for why the IMG needs a BC can be used against them, most IMG operations take place in rock fields, it's logical to assume that the majority of engagements IMG caps get in are in rock fields, so why not jsut have a standard cruiser, maybe even a heavier one like the RMC. Also by this same logic, since the CR fight in Magellan, the portion of Coronado not in the Barrier Cloud, and potentially Leeds, why shouldn't they have a BC?
The Colonials still hope that one day they will regain control over Tau-44 and to do that, they need to fight in the rocky Tau-23. The IMG, on the other hand can scramble GBs in asteroid areas and their BC in the open. Let's not forget that it's the player factions that set the goals and chose the toys. So, if IMG wanted to keep the BC and CR wanted a simple cruiser instead, it was their choice.

(...) IMG can use their BC in the open space of Dublin, Magelan and Omegas.

I must've missed all of that, especially the part about IMG not being small at all.
Please, tell me more [Image: emoticon-00126-nerd.png]

Also, Lyth's right.
caps for junkers!
IMG is kinda like GMG in my books. Both corps cut their ties to the houses they appeared in, becoming "independent". Only a big entity with strong connections and good income can survive on its own on the legal market.

The junker GB is already too much, if you ask me. The junker fleet should be composed from all kinds of retrofitted transports and freighters and a few cheap fighters and bombers. Not capital grade ships. And that Wrecker is ugly and doesn't fit the junkers at all. The engines also burn the lower "arms". The model is bad.

Give junkers a cruiser.
Cap fighting is damn good fun. So, npnp.

Quote: So, if IMG wanted to keep the BC and CR wanted a simple cruiser instead, it was their choice.

I'd take a small IMG light Cruiser immediately and dump the BattleCruiser concept, but the model/stats is what we were given. And, if people are honest, the ship is bad enough and is therefore not used at all, except by a few indies who do not know that it loses against every single capship it can encounter.

So... whatever rage there is about "miners with caps!!!!", direct it at Zoners, pls, bc their pew-cap-toys are actually worth something, while the IMG BC is just a rp tool to keep the (often neglected) deep space exploration aspect of the IMG realistic.

Uh yah, gief light exploration cruiser to IMG! No more weird, bulky, blocky BC.

I miss the old CR BC a bit though. At least I really, really prefer it to the current IMG BC.
Could it maybe be downscaled a bunch, retextured and put in as a IMG light cruiser, in exchange for the BC? I doubt anyone from IMG would be against that, at least no-one of the people who actually can decide stuff about the faction.

Now that I think of, maybe instead of a Civilian Cruiser how about the factions with legit resources like Junkers, Zoners, IMG, GMG (btw they have 2 SRPed Rheinland Battleships and have own Capital Ship guns) get a Destroyer? I'm not talking about Trading factions like IC and Samura, factions like that but yeah why not?

I do like how this thread spiraled into hating on IMG for having such firepower and armour.

It's true though, they're a corporation. Not a military. CR has a reason to fight that requires military standards of pew pew machines, IMG don't except to stop pirates from taking their money. In role play, anyway.

Argus dates back to when IMG and CR shared a shipline. When it got splitted CR got some things and the IMG got new models for some other things.
Nothing wrong here, they are rather rich compared to some other factions, so they should be able to afford things.
