POBs, while a great addition to the Discovery mod, have made the server unstable. Tenths of people are wasting hours of ingame time assaulting solars with little to no RP to spite the players, who have constructed them. The lag caused by such assaults on a daily level prevents any chance for players to engage in a territorial battle like the ones between LN and RM or OC and Corsairs just to name a couple.
The problem here is that PoBs cannot be made invoulnerable because the attackers would whine and they cannot be made easier to kill, otherwise the owners will whine.
Before player bases, the Gamma/Alpha/Texas/Hamburg/Leeds large cap engagements did much the same. The issue is not playerbases, but the HUGE excess of capital ships in the game. If we're going to snip something, let's start there:
- All pirate factions restricted to cruisers and below. Poorly supplied pirate factions not even a cruiser.
- All house corporate factions, civvy stuff only.
- All unaffiliated factions (Zoner, BHG, IMG, GMG and other non-house lawful factions) limited to cruiser and below.
- Restrict the amount of battleships house navies may field by making those one per official player faction (meaning you -can- have more of them, just need more player factions on the ID. Also means you have to have a group of players working together and generating activity, to be able to field one).
Then make their main guns and shields significantly more powerful (the ones that drive away cruisers but are pointless against snubs) and the problem is largely solved.
This would end battleship spam. This would end the server crashing from battleship spam. It would also cause an insane amount of Q_Q from every capwhore in the game. But it would address the problem mentioned in the top post.
On another note though - it may be just the complexity of the capship hitboxes being an issue - not sure. We're looking into those as well. No quick fixes.

While I agree with most of the stuff you just said AD, that "1BS/Faction" is 'a bit' extreme, especcially given the fact that there is "1 Official faction per ID" rule.
Also, I guess BS's would require a buff, since they would be so rare.

BS's could be based on a ratio linked to active players in the faction.
You seem to have missed the point. I said that before we had those big fleet battles and they caused the same issue. Now the same issue is caused by base seges, so there is no more room for epic battles anymore..

What do you understand under Epic battle?
There where a few big battles in the past 2 months, granted there wheren't 15 caps that fought but surely about 4-8 with about double that number of snubs on each side.

There are no epic battles in the proximity of a base. There are just 10 caps shooting a stationary object. The only actual battles I have seen were the O3 ones. That one was a good and large battle.
But as for the others, it is just one side shooting a base. Nothing else.
