Aw that's great then, if there are actual drawbacks. If Zoners decide that you shouldn't be flying theirs ships, what are you going to do?

Lets look at how well each of the Zoner groups play together, now add in a dash of drama, and realistically look at the odds of Phoenix or Order making the trip across the sector to hassle some religious nut-bags

I could be wrong but I don't think any of the other groups will hassle the TAZ

The Order's job is to deal with the nomad threat/infection across Sirius.

Edit:

Oorply they find generic zonerdom too limiting (heh!) and can see benefits in getting rid of the association and the negative consequences it can entail in-rp, whilst keeping "the good stuff".

It's a solid plan.

If Phoenix feel that we shouldnt be having Aquilons, Juggies, Dessies or Corvos after this decision, now they can actually do something about it inRP without their ID restricting them from doing so. That's the kind of solution we're offering here.
Wot? Did I said you shouldn't use Zoner caps? That's how broken phone works. I've said only one thing - you had no right with blocking Zoners from a Zoner ship. That's all.

Okay, dropping here a few things I've said to one side on Skype already, but feel the need to share it with the other side as well.

[14:05:30] Thyr'zul - [C]: Now, back to the Raven topic for just one last note: Blocking access to Pueblo Bonito was okay, blockign access to the Aquilon was not, and that's why you can't say for certain whether it was an overall good or bad decision. As I said, all the conclusion one can draw here is that the drama could have been prevented with a sell point for Aqui with more public access (like Shasta for example).

[14:17:17] Thyr'zul - [C]: So yea, this was the heart of the problem, blocking access to a station not meant to be public also meant blocking access to a ship which is meant to be public, and the two things weren't really compatible, giving you a reason to both why and why not to put an all-shooting base there.
[14:18:08] Thyr'zul - [C]: A decision has been made and now people use these two conflicting reasons against eachother, been using ever since Raven happened.

[14:26:13] Thyr'zul - [C]: This debate is indeed moot, and that's what I'd like both sides to understand. It is over anyways, Ravenhurst is non-existent and PB has no more ships sold there with a single sell point.

I don't understand what people are complaining about. Nothing wrong with this in any way. In fact I like the idea.

Foul play? Not sure but I doubt it. However I do see a perhaps misguided attempt at making the founder's idea happen. Problem with that is:

* Since Doug had the idea years ago there's been literally hundreds of pages interlinking TAZ and Zoner that separating the twain is near impossible. Couple that with most members and non-members equating this small group of religious nutjobs as Zoner and it's going to take almost a complete re-write and ret-con to separate it. Even Doug back in the day realized there was already so much Zoner/TAZ mixing that it wasn't worth the effort, angst, and RP consequences to make the change. Granted, back then getting an ID for a faction wasn't easy but we did have the HF and the Phantoms andd others so it was possible, Doug just realized the merger was already done and decided to go with it as is.

* As faction leaders we get used to doing whatever we want, making the decisions and doing what needs to be done. That's normal and for the most part the memberships appreaciate the job the leader does. However, when the leader decides to make a fundamental and major change in the the faction, such decisions need to be discussed with and voted on by the membership. This didn't happen. This morning we get a link to the OP in this thread and that's it.

As a TAZ member since 2010 I formally protest Gypsie's decision as unilateral and without membership voice, vote, or approval. The Omicroner leadership pulled this kind of stunt a few years back in deciding to disband the faction without the input or vote of the membership and look where that got us, the few survivors of that in a face off with the other Zoner groups.

Thank you for remembering Doug's idea Gypsie but no thank you on this move; or at least the way you've gone about it. Discuss it in the faction channel and let the people vote on whether we want this or not, don't just up and decide for yourself what the faction is going to make such a major change without the rest of us agreeing to it.
