The Liberator is able to tackle most VHF's if it can catch them by surprise. Mount a pair of Imp. Debs and either Hvy. Flashpoints or Buckshots.
Varyag can attest to this. (so he ran into his own nuke. I take what little I can...)

I've fought Varyag in my Loki, and I'll say that when it comes down to pure maneuverability and firepower, the Loki wins, hands down. However, Varyag seems to be able to use my own maneuverability against me, making me run into every one of his evil mines. So, piloting skill is definitely a factor, but I'd say that the Loki is superior to the Liberator.
Dboy and Mjolnir had no problems hitting my Loki. And I do know how to dodge.
So, it all depends who's shooting and who's flying.
Compared to other LF's, Loki is a big target.
Boss, I sure hope those Buckshots or Flashpoints are not mounted on a LPI Liberator. :-)

Believe me - I once had a nasty indy liberator, he wasn't tragically lagy, but enough to make him dodge a bit too well. He could didge the fire of 4 VHFs and still nearly kill one.
LFs are needed and I like them. But some of them are a bit oo good - try n' hit a wyrm.
Having fair extensively tested the Loki and Scimmy out (against each other now as well) I can fair adaquately sayu that the loki is the better fighter. Me and Silent are fairly well matched in LF's (he kicks my ass bomber vs bomber though) and whichever one of us was flying the Loki won hands down and we were testing for about an hour.
The loki seems to dodge all by itself whereas the scimmy has the advantage of greater firepower. This comes to nothing however if it can't hit anything as seems to be the case when fighting a Loki.
I dodged a BHG cruiser for about 20 minutes without taking a single hit in it, which is frankly awesome, as I'm not the greatest dodger in the world, and i still had enough time to fire the mini into its hul every now and again after the bomber dropped its shield.
I find it really easy to fly. It might just be that it suits my style better than the scimmy, however i would like to see the scimmy have a bit faster turning and strafe, maybe at the expence of the turret, no need to give it a torp tho.
1vs1 is irrelevant. You should now that.
It's like saying Titan is better then Sabre because I can beat most Outcasts in my Titan 1vs1.
Totally different then the real fight.
Scimittar is less agile, yes, but at least it's 2x smaller.
It's survivability is far better then Loki's one.
