In average, people will play a cap ship more often the more cap ships you own. Same goes for the number of fighters they have.
Quote:The pirates ive got pirated by always let me go to the nearest freeport to "drop" them off, even though ive always just docked laughed at them and logged off.
Lol...
Those pirates were begin nice to you, probably because you RPed a little.
But by laughing and then logging off, you sir, are officially a oorping lolwutter, and a f1-er.
K, since CeeArr got mentioned, I feel there's a need to respond.
The usual practise is to have some bigger boat docked nearby for smuggi-smoking duty. Usually an Atlas. I school my peeps to try and save the slaves if possible. Lord nows the.. other side isn't making it easy.
Another method is having the guy dock on an IMG base and sell those slaves (Usually Falkland, the miners pay good compensation)
The bad thing about the vast majority of slave traders is that they know they're pretty close to Alpha and will either run, hoping the pilgrim's thick skin holds, exploiting the fact that the "good guys" are *REQUIRED* to spend a lot of time typing elaborate demands (since DROP NAU 4 DAI!" isn't satisfactory these days obviously). Sometimes it's just impossible to save all, sometimes when there's no trader, one guy sits at the debris and all others make rounds back n' forth untill every last slave is safe.
' Wrote:Actually, there is.
that is what makes a lolwhutter actually.
Only if the person that brought them there to drop the slaves off owns said Freeport.
It also depends on if the slaver isn't on a tight schedule. Wouldn't make sense to wait somewhere indefinitely if he had shipments to make in a certain time frame.
' Wrote:I put it to you, madam, that wether there is a blue message or not is entirely up to the slave trader.
Either he drops the slaves or brings them to a designated base, or he doesnt.
As far as I know, people who stop slavers dont ask for money which the slaver wouldnt be able to pay.
when you put slaves carmped in a container on your cargo ship, what makes you think they all emidiately die when the a part of the ship get disabled or shot at or even blown up? If the container itself isnt breached, they still got air and the same warmth they had before. And I imagine in a universe where a ship as big as a minivan can fly like a super-agile airplane in space, shoot enormnous amounts of energy, nuke you, and jump to another star system, they should be able to sustain a tincan container as good as we can today.
Temperature? Temperature is reduced or raised by a heat flow. Can happen by molecular transmission of kinetik energy (by air or naother body) or radiation. SInce there is no air in space, its only possible by radiation. And that happens very slowly, which is why our astronauts survive too (at least if their outerward color is white, since absortion equals emission according to planks law)
Hum, I dunno where the 'putting slaves in containers' bit came from, but ah...that's, interesting.
To my understanding, slaves are held in the cargo hold, I know My slaves are shoved in there, given a worn blanket and a crappy pillow and forced to stay in the hold the entire journey, so yeah if my Slave Liner popped open, they'd all die, as would my crew, etc etc, and don't get me wrong when you read this, I'm not complaining, I'm just stating the facts as I see them.
Also: To the first bit about it being entirely up to the Slaver, yes that's indeed true in a sense, but who's to say they shouldn't be able to RP the whole situation out, to see where it goes, I mean, who's to say it -has- to end a certain way, again, don't get me wrong, when I have been caught (usually outside of House Space) and it's demanded that I release my Slaves, I'll do it. I'm generally cooperative about things like that, as Kaisha, the captain of my Pilgrim is Smug, she's not stupid.
But yeah, if the 'Slaver' chooses to make no attempt at RPing the situation out after he or she has been caught, and they just try to run, and they get killed, then yes, it is their fault so they have no right to complain.
But if a Slaver is trying to RP and just gets blown to hell anyway? Well then I think it's okay to complain a bit.
Edit: "Now all the people who finance themselves with the slaverun will come here and scream 'NO THEY DIDNT EVEN ASK ME DROP THEM!'."
Is that so?
I make the majority of my money through the slave trade, and I'm not in here complaining, nor flaming anyone, simply having a conversation.
i was under the impression slaves are housed like prisinors in sealed cells with food and water and space survivable for the trip in the event the ship suffers som kind of hul lbreach or systems failure what good is "shoveing them all in the cargohold" if there al ldead because the suhip loses life support but the briudge is on emergency systems all it does is hurt you

To me, advanced trains, pirate trains, pirate trainsports etc, (with the exception of slave liners, but then you'd be giving your cardamine gas flasks a pillow and a blanket on the way back) stack what ever they carry in containers.
If you have a big hold, you wouldnt stack the people on top of each other because the ones at the bottom would die from crushing or drown in the poop of the people who are on top of them. If you dont stack you would only be filling your cargo hod to something like 10th full capacity. So, you would put them in containers and stack the containers on top of each other, unless your ship already is just kind of container tug like the advanced train. The most efficient way to transport slaves through space would be to put them in something like a cheap basic tincan container with minimal life suport and maybe some tranquilizers, and treat those as normal cargo crates.
Also... when you pop a slave ship, as what do you see the slave cargo in space? Not as dead bodies.
Sure a slaveship captain could make sure his slaves all die when his ship gets attacked or drives disabled or destroyed. But... he has absolutely no reason to do it, if his own life and ship are not in danger, but only his cargo, and he could just walk away unharmed and get on with his life after he dropped the slaves.
And anyway... if you know and the slaver knows that lawfuls wont shoot and have no other way of stopping slavers... guess what will happen...
Yep, Im buying a slave liner.

Thats the thing about discovery...
EVeryone can say 'hola' and 'yer' instead of 'hello' abd 'your' and RP some half-assed stereotype and consider himself a RP genius, and then he will go around screaming bloody murder when he loses a pvp or gets busted as a smuggler and file a rule violation report that the other persons sentenses didnt contain 'hola' and 'yer' when he was... "not RPing right"... when he asked a space ship captain to free the slaves in his hold.
Of course you can and should RP when you get stopped, but does that automatically mean that you will be let through with your cargo?
Here is my experience with cardislavers:
Type 1 (90%):
You RP as a lawful trying to free the slave in someones hold. The guy either runs without a word till he gets blown up, manages to dock and pms you '// ha ha ha you lolwutting noob', says 'just kill me now I dont wanna fly back', stall by very slow typing untill the maltesian lolfleet arrives, or says 'gtfo you CR fag people are trying to play a game here you know'
Type 2 (5%):
They make a little RP, maybe run or drop the cargo or not, maybe a little fight or not, but the encounter ends with a friendly pm afterwards
Type 3 (5%):
They say 'hola' or 'yer' when trying to run from you, but dont make it. Then they pm you telling you that you just made a HUGE mistake by bugging their powertrading! They are very very popular and powerful on this server and will now destroy you and your faction with flameposts and intreague. Now you better bend over and pull your pants down if you know whats good for you.
Xoria commented type 3 quite nicely:
Quote: Discovery is blithely leaving behind its history of being one united clan, and slowly embracing a feudal system of dozens of tightly controlled sandboxes dominated by local chiefs who enforce their own rules and authority with their own interests as their primary concern. If you challenge them, you're oorp, and thus possess no credibility and are fair game to be abused by anyone who crosses your path. Like all systems that begin outwardly proclaiming security and prosperity in exchange for just a few of your liberties, this one will inevitably coalesce into a simple thugocracy as the best manipulators and schemers slide their blades into the naive dupes who will never see it coming.
Sometimes some of the lawfuls will not wait till the maltesian lofleet arrives, so yeah maybe they do shoot a bit earlier than you want them too. They may asume you are type 1 or 3.
