That's it. I'm finally done with this discussion given how community attacks this thread only just because "it is Toris". I had enough of this sick attitude.

Maybe to put this in to perspective:

The Trader, in question, appears to only have one Ship and is very new here (11 days). His knowledge of RP is quite possibly, very limited.

So his whole wealth is on one ship.

Maybe his understanding of the English Language is also fairly limited. Sometimes patience is needed to nurture these people. Try to remember how it was for you when you entered this big Universe.

Edit: This isn't aimed at you Toris, but everybody (Toris, you posted after I started to write this).

There was nothing personal in my statments too. If you got it wrong, then sorry, I didn't want to make you feel like it was an personal assault. I was just trying to understand this guy's behaviour and trying to say, that there are a lot of new guys in disco who doesn't get RP like we all get with this whole baggage of experience.

There are new players that never played on a RP server before. They don't start regularly visiting forums right away, and some don't even care how the community and RP in general work until they get a shiny toy they saw. Meaning, even though they might have a high level character, it doesn't mean they know everything there is to know about our community. That was the case with me: this is my first RP community and before even realizing how forums are a huge part of this game, I could already afford a Sarissa.

What I'm trying to say is, there will always be situations like this. There will always be new players who are determined to get a cap or whatever it is that they want before bothering to learn how this game works. Just give it some time, and they will eventually either get bored and leave, or start investing time in learning the basics of a RP server.

Maybe because your threads are pointless and nothing but spam?

Except this time it's not. But it's always nice to see an angel setting an example of how to jump on a hatred bandwagon.

Toris, I am afraid that you are doing this for the sake of drama after all, even if not intentional.
The topic does not really bring anything new to us, the situation described in it is a known fact. Instead it is well known that such topics often turn into flame because of opposite opinions among people and the overall attitude of victimizing / defending mentioned player types and gameplay styles.
The evidence you have provided in the OP does show that your part in encounter was not flawless, which gives the ignition to critics towards you.
Overall the topic consists of moments that ignite hate, arguing and low attitude (if escalated), among others and towards you.
It is obvious that if you would want to prevent it, you would pay more attention to setting up the topic and responses to other members.
For instance, you could have omitted evidence, write a reminder about keeping things civil and avoiding the overall blaming attitude.
I would put your words this way, for instance: "Lets discuss how can we increase the quality of RP between pirate and trader parties upon encounter. From one hand, pirates are able to demand .... ; but this can bring reactions such as .... ; I suggest that to prevent ... , ... , and other low quality and ooRP occasions, we shall .... . I would also like to inquire your opinion on this matter."
If you'd keep the topic impersonal it'd be more civil and constructive.
Please take my critics serious, I would like to help you to avoid negative attitude, which, unfortunately, you cause yourself because of your temper and straightforwardness. This wasn't meant to offend you by any means and I am not supporting any negative attitude towards anyone here.

In my experience, if a pirate can't force a trader to RP, it's the pirate's fault.

Any silent-trader type, from the "sry no ingleis" loltrader to "time is money" powertrader, would take whatever "option B" you give them besides losing all their profit. No offense, but from what little the screen shows, it was actually you who cornered the trader into dropping the "kill me" line, and even then, just because the trader dropped that line doesn't mean you have no other choice but to kill him. You'd be surprised how even the most noobish traders would react if you actually start chatting them up instead of goin straight for the demand... You just need to be a bit more talkative yourself and learn a few tricks other than the typical CD-spam on stopping them from making it to the closest base, because after all, I for one haven't seen no traders out there who'd fill up a transport and hope to get blown to bits on their route.

If it's RP you're after, maybe reconsider dropping the demand on the second line after your typical "halt" line... It's the pirate's approach that defines the tone of each piracy encounter, if you go straight for the demand, the trader would naturally react based on your demand right away, afraid that they might get blown up for stalling. If you go for some RP though, the trader would be more likely to play along, knowing they have more than 10 seconds to decide whether to pay or make a run for it. Hell, I regularly run into traders who don't even reply at first and just try to cruise away, but then decide to cut their engines and actually RP their way out of the sticky situation they're in (If constantly getting CDed isn't annoying enough, constantly getting rammed off-course sure would be). And mind you, I made my first pirate char back in 2010 and haven't actively played anything but unlawful chars since, and that's while I'm not really the most patient pirate out there, so if I can make a trader talk, so can anyone else.

P.S: Before anyone pulls the "but it'd be oorp for a pirate to be talkative" card, let's just say this - You define what is and is not InRP for your character, so if you decide to play a grumpy/greedy pirate, having to deal with silent traders would simply be a consequence of your own decision (a rather realistic and reasonable one at that, I must add) which you'd have to accept. If you don't like dealing with silent traders though, maybe it'd be time to reconsider how you define your own pirate character(s).
