I'm in favor of letting every house capital have a pob like Long Island.
And every Freeport.

Unlawfuls ganking lawfuls? In Liberty? Hardly.
Then let me ask you this: If you don't intend to kill people off in front of Manhattan, then why do you want Long Island gone?
Why did people build it?
I don't want it removed, just remove the weapon platforms.
Besides, you have docking ring missiles which are good defense against most of the stuff you encounter there, if you really feel that threatened

Wasn't it constructed for [LN] to build cloaks and so on? Since the weapon platforms aren't so well placed and since the cerb nerf, it's not a fireline full of cerbs anymore.
Sometimes when I fly there with my unlawful and fight right at the Planet, it's quite annoying, but honestly, when you raid Manhatten, there are already shooting 30+ guns at you, so I don't care (Since it's Liberty, don't expect anything)
About PoB's at NPC stations, don't give them Weapon Platforms and we are done ezpz.

But every capital planet already can. Nothing's stopping you. It's actually easier for all other capitals, as their planets sell Reinforced Alloy, while we have to fly to Penny to get any.
Also, if the argument is "but you already have planet missiles", then the reverse is true. The planet missiles already exist which discourage activity above the planet, so why do you care if the guns are there?
And, furthermore, what does a hostile entity of any kind have any business doing within 5K of Manhattan anyway? What cutting edge RP are you going to get done there that LIS is preventing you from doing?

It was built back in 2012/4.86, probably more to build a base for [LN] than anything else, since they were the bees' knees. Now it basically acts as a factory for us, yes, and the guns are not that hard to get around as long as you're not trying to fly directly at Long Island or Manhattan itself.
While I agree with the original petition, saying that Pobs should be moved away from NPC stations is kinda stupid. And I kind of agree with-snip-
Do not proxypost for banned members.
edit: o sorry i meant to say
i personally believe that moving falster away from aaland would do jack sh*t
i'm sorry if i'm not allowed to share the view of a banned member

Also people giving example of long island - seriously you have to be really bad if it hinders your ability for interactions near manhattan that badly.
So, Falster, sitting in a field capable of mining is exempt from these restrictions? Beaumont Spire? Danzig? Granted, with the elimination of scrap metal mining those two pass muster. But I'll bet BS went to Core 4 before scrap metal was eliminated. I'm sure there are a half dozen others that are providing area denial to my water and oxygen miner. So around Manhattan is supposed to be a haven, fine, I can't argue with that. But Junkers, who don't have access to Cap ships (except through special roleplay), can't protect a place they call home from every tom, dick and harry with a grudge?
Doing away with POB's entirely would cut the forum activity by a good fraction. People gaining access, making trade deals, and bartering for resources seem to be some of the more frequent posts. WIthout POBs what would people do with their capital ships? I'm sure the LN would park one by every known jump hole, scan whoever comes through, and destroy them if they are carrying anything illegal. (Actually I'm surprised that's not already a thing instead of sitting at Norfolk chatting.) I only say LN because out of house militaries they seem to be the most active.
I'm not outright defending the "offending" bases, such as La Fortaleza or RSF, but I won't stand by while exceptions are made for other bases that I and others find to be just as offensive. Not to mention I tried to eliminate La Fortaleza a year ago through RP when the Congress was practically dead. And I'm sure Bill and JT still hold a grudge against me for that. INRP area denial bases make sense. In game, there are ways for people to get around them, though it's timely and expensive, just like maintaining a POB. Granted, getting around them means using other things people find offensive, cloaks and jumpdrives. But, at least the jumpdrives wouldn't be used for trading.
I would rather see offending bases taken care of in an RP fashion rather than whining to the staff, hell, that's how permanent structures are removed in game. So the assault on RSF failed this time... I'm sure they'll try again with even more ships. Makes for a good story. It's a bit disappointing that factions aren't equally active, or that people favor one that they belong to over an opposing one.
In short, there are ingame and INRP answers that people are just too lazy to use.
That should've been done in the early 86's to prevent crap like Puerto del Sol/GCoin from happening. Removing the platforms makes no sense, since it makes PoBs defenceless, while poking admins to re-activate them every time a siege is scheduled is quite egoistic.

I sign this, not because I pirate people in mining fields, but because I'm still salty about Goldern Coin killing my closed econ character all those years ago
Also how do POBs being next to NPC bases ruin gameplay?

Scrap metal, oxygen and water are all purchasable on NPC bases unlike any other mining commodity so they're excluded (if it wasn't obvious enough) when talking about mining field POBs. If you're mining them you're doing nothing but wasting your time given how low their NPC prices are which results in bigger GPM. Junkers can have as many POBs as they want, as long as one of them is not sitting on top of a jumphole with 8 battleship turrets waiting to instakill people without them being able to do anything about it. Although that's not an issue anymore with the forced neutrality, so I don't know why you're bringing them up in the first place.

Nobody's talking about removing POBs, just moving them out of problematic areas.

Gameplay and balance always has to come before RP. It makes sense to pile all the numbers on the enemy and gank him mercilessly inRP but it's not a valid excuse to completely ruin the fun of the person on the other side of your screen. Or another example, Bretonia should've been rolled over by Gallia years ago, when they weren't even at war with Liberty (on top of that Liberty had Rheinland to deal with). Would it make sense inRP? Sure. Would it be bad for gameplay? Yes. Nobody, not even GRN players would like to see Planet New London and Cambridge owned by GRN and slowly watch a vanilla house vanish. I can go on and on, but the main point stands.
People shouldn't be forced to have a /stuck macro ready for gate/hole POBs. Same goes with cloaks and mining field ones, not to mention battleship platforms. I'm not sure what you mean with jumpdrives, I guess you expect people to jump into the mining field and "catch the miner by surprise" as they're getting obliterated by weapon platforms while he's already docking. It makes no sense whatsoever and shows you're clueless about the whole situation.
