"No fun allowed" seems to be a bigtime community aspect by otherwise inactive players who have been hanging around here for years gathering the internet equivalent of dust and cobwebs.

Maybe because many peoples who played for zoners love indeed this style of game?) And they dont see sense in pew on zoners, instead of self-defence?)

Where can I find info about giving Freeport to pirate hands?

And that's how community reacts if you pick a name of well-known lolwuts and expect people to accept it as a serious attempt. I have nothing against them going for some pews or something, just stating my opinion about name of the faction and chaos it has caused already. I believe people wouldn't even react like this if Exo's "attempt" had slightly different name.

It'd be disappointing if Tarrafal got retconned. More conflict is a good thing. Zoners need some kind of engagement principle, that's been a known need for years.
I totally disagree with this one, Taeni if you might have recognised we already have enough **** on our arse. We do not need another "threat"/enemy to fight against

If someone decides to play Zoner just for fighting and blowing stuff up, they could easily do that with another faction. Attacking is against what Zoners want. This whole resurrection of ZA is a giant bad meme. The next thing that happens is: "We are at war, no RP anymore"
Freeport 2 Infocard Wrote:Abandoned by their former trade partners and facing an ever climbing pirate presence, the Zoners of Freeport 2 began to leave their former home little by little. Over the course of two years the population of the Freeport has gradually shifted until only a handful of its original inhabitants remain. It is uncertain when Freeport 2 fell under control of the pirate bands that had long threatened the station, but now their colors fly brazenly upon the hull of the once quiet Freeport.

Zoners have never been designed for any form of conflict by default, in vanilla they were meant to be a filler, a bunch of always neutral docking points where the player can find shelter no matter their reputation to any other faction. They weren't given separate IFFs for the freeports either, not even at least on a regional basis to allow the diplomatic dynamism and consistency all other factions enjoy.
The initial design makes the Zoner NPC faction the most difficult to play correctly. Of course that doesn't mean "impossible", there are still a good few great examples of what a proper Zoner faction is meant to be, various examples as the design still allows some degree of freedom. But there has been a lot more failed attempts, especially those trying to portray Zoners as what they are not, combatants, folks going to war, all in the name of creating activity, no matter the quality of it. Sadly the full shipline Zoners currently have kinda enforces these ideas and contradicts the default lore.
If you are not creative enough to create unique Zoner roleplay without including Zoners going to war, don't play Zoners. Play any of the other NPC factions allowing such and incorporating combat as part of their lore.
(Even though I remember you once used to be creative enough to create and run CW.)
Regarding this specific issue: heed what The Sovereign said, both in Dev Yellow, and afterwards. I'd advise putting this project on hold until it becomes clear what the originally intended infocard for teh carrier actually is.

CW was designed for a different era. When inter-faction intrigue was high because PVP could be expected. The modern server doesn't need CW. It needs activity generation. I could revive CW and do everything I did then 500% better, but would it help the server? No.
I was a different human being at the time.
