Is there anything else this initiative is based on than the Tarrafal's infocard (which by the way contradicts the Freeport's own)? There would really be no point to continue and develop the faction proposal any further if the only actual ingame/inRP support of the idea - contradicting everything else - would be something clearly stated to be... fixed soon.

For this sort of idea of militant zoners to work, it needs to be backed by the devs and executed by players, not the other way around. Most community members still view such groups as a ham-fisted attempt to introduce a player-driven narrative by means that aren't backed by storydevs and a large chunk of the people who would support this - are hesitant to do so, given that any such not-exactly-canon happenings might get retconned.

The devs need to provide their statement on this, preferably over announcements or patch info or public dev section. After people see that this is something that can happen and is approved of - then you can continue on with the group at a proper pace.

Escorts for Zoner transports is one thing, getting involved with a conflict with everyone in Delta is quite a different story as is the issue in Bering. Freeport 1- SCRA, Hessians, Corsairs and then Bretonia wanted stake in the system with Bretonia claiming a base that no one previously wanted. It's a never ending, vicious cycle when groups initiate hostility, get mad at Zoners for enforcing their laws and then make a war out of it. You're just fueling it. So long as the Zoners are gasoline, everyone else will continue playing with matches.
Since any action by Zoner ID brings conflict/war how about the Devs put in modified weapons platforms that will shoot anyone that attacks in a NFZ that resets to neutral once the attacker has left/destroyed the NFZ for half an hour. There never really can be a group that has no conflict no matter what ideals they have do to the human element of free will and persons need for self expression so with the NFZs constantly being challenged it needs to be resolved. Also if Zoner as a whole want to be neutral with everyone then the Nomads being enemies needs to be pulled from Zoner ID which would go against game lore. I personally think there is no way to get around what the original story line set into motion. The only way for a Zoner to remain neutral is to not even help their own ID members, let everyone walk all over you and not fight back when attacked. Who wants to do that??? No one. Not even TAZ for they have escorts that are Nomads and that is not being neutral. Hiring or having a escort is taking a stand thus negates neutrality. So the only way for the Zoner Nation to be able to protect themselves is to have a voluntary Militia group of some sort. Walk softly and carry a big stick may be the only way.

I see, they just dont realise, guys who dont want battle become the zoners. Not zoner id dictate them be a peaceful, but they are dictate it to id.
About zoners escorts and another things - nomicrons dangerous place. But they are only fire back, not starting the wars, this is means neutrality - dont poke everybody before you would be poken.

Yes, i think they can have some forces for protecting common places. But entire idea around Tarrafal and bering things is bad and silly.

Now this I like. When someone shoots at the Freeport, automatically we will know who shot first. I'll one up you though. Instead of a half hour, why not make the offender's rep to red so that they can't dock again?

And why not just have Freeport administrators who have a POB with weapons platforms who can put NFZ violators on the POB's hostile list?

Also, Zoners are a diverse group of people who wanted to leave house space.

That's it.

They're not all pacifists by vanilla lore.

They're not all people who shoot only in self defense by vanilla lore.

Those two things are just what early discovery Zoners try to make Zoners so they can go everywhere without getting shot.

But it's not logical, and it's not a necessity.

If it were logical, Zoners wouldnt all share the same diplomacy on every Freeport and wouldnt be neutral to all of Sirius, but would have different diplomacy on every Freeport. Just like Freelancers dont all have the same diplomacy.

Sadly despite several brainstorms and proposals about this in the past, about how good separate IFFs would be, even if just on a regional basis, would be, nothing happened in that regard.
