If anything from a roleplay standpoint it's the perfect base to take down to make a stand! Look at how it's all made you rile up! You know you could back it up by protecting and defending that station in game with your lives! If you really feel so strongly about it! But i doubt you will!
POBs are nothing but a stain on the game and I doubt more than a couple of people would shed tears if all of them were deactivated for good overnight. Nevermind the fact that they lag the game to hell and back they also tend to make interactions awful due to their platforms.

Wall of text alert, for some reason I cant go a day without seeing something ridiculous.
POB's are what kept the game alive for years when there was nothing to do. There still isnt and thats why people would siege a POB over something else. If this guy had a Bretonian capship base to siege instead, he'd probably choose that.
Not to mention, we could use some help from the staff in the form of OPTIONS and be able to request some npc stuff be moved to the base to help defend it. Oh but then we'd almost be fighting real conflicts or envoke some actual scenario, which terrifies some players.
They say there's not enough players for ongoing battles but we arent even trying are we?
But the problem is, players want the chance to do stuff and have it make a difference. No one would want to siege an npc base thats just pointless either. My logic is, we see the big npc ships moved around every patch, so why not take request to move them around? Even if the BAF needed to make the request, if BMM asked for help from its own armed forces, they could get the process started.
I can only imagine the arguments against it, as it only comes down to being willing to do the work in accordance to whats been requested vs only working on whats been pre chosen.
Of course in my world, Bretonia and any hosue would NEED to keep at least a battleship in any system to maintain its claim, one that could be reduced to 0 hp and made to go dead (being a temporary wreck until the next patch). Which would mean if they did lose it, they could easily have the chance to send another, or a bunch, and only lose territory if they wont send any more ships to that system.
I wouldnt be surprised if the Enclave and Bretonian OF player bases avoid conflict to avoid a war. Which is hilarious to me. Proves it never should have ended like it did. Imagine the enclave just never existed and those systems wound up open. There was no real resolution. It was all left intact and the players are active, yet can they fight? After all that happened, Bretonia just ignores the Enclave, CR has done nothing, and the new Gallic Confederacy?
So they want that Enclave ID so bad but they wont attack GMS or BMM bases, and no one will attack theirs. Either let people finish their wars or actually end them! The indies just assume this is what people do here, they havent been pressured yet by the community that its taboo. Personally I love Goldgeist, but this issue seems to bring to light that some dont even want POB's acknowledged as real for their own convenience.

Oh but we're torn here. We want players here and fighting pew pews but not thinking about it much at the same time, not caring. Its contradictory. Yes you are right, it should be a spot to make a stand, or the BAF could do this or that to defend it. But the Devs never gave the ok for another war so they would probably rather let the base die rather than risk failure in a real battle, or risk a war in real time without dev permission.
Want to see something cool? Make Issoudun mortal, let the BAF and whoever else they can muster make attacks on it. Maybe it would last weeks or months. In a miraculous world we could just get repair ships working on such bases and have people working on maintaining bases under siege. Then if the Enclave players can keep themselves afloat despite all of their enemies, they deserve it. Balance it rig and it would make for epic gameplay. Do that all over the server and see what happens.

All you POB haters promise never to be caught using a POB again right? Plus maybe a change to WP mechanics might help? If it were up to me, when people hate on POB's, I'd make it so your ships can't dock on them anymore! You wouldn't mind?
Too much of those PoB siegers flooding the thread.
I would raise important said points.
AFK siegers make harm time harm more than 5k haulers waste time to bring repairs.
Replace PoB upgrades and repairs to consuming very light weight (1000 cards take one unit of cargo space) commodity 'credit cards' to solve all problems.
PoBs already have veeeeery long time consuming of commodities. (10 units per second currently)
You could regulate that PoB would have automatic long enough time for repairs and self-upgrades to consume credit cards.

When POBs were introduced the game economy design was shifted as well.
Before POBs existed there were other ways of having activity and interactions, and those were far better, IMO.
Though if you think that by mass sieging them you can magically go back to 4.85 times, you're wrong.
MOD economy (including ore and supply routes), siege mechanics, and (possibly) POB rules need to change to make game more enjoyable.

The one issue I have with this is that the Corsairs are somehow being dragged into this, but whatever... as a consequence the Corsairs should loose Athos. If any faction can not handle the loss of RP assets then they have no business destroying another players actual tangible asset.
Also while Goldiest is the base many are concerned about their is an obvious coordinated ongoing campaigned effort against POBs in Bretonia by Enclave and the Corsairs; which is fine, but it move than just simple gameplay to be ignored. At minimum the Corsairs should loose Athos... dare I say Casablanca should end up surrounded by Coalition as well.

This is a thread discussing a very complicated matter which causes anxiety to the discovery community for years.
