"Aegis"

Project Aegis is one of the newest and highest value projects to the Faes leader called The Architect and her loyal scientists. This project focuses on a new reactor type that is thought for a single snub craft. A highly experimental material has been found that serves as their ground on this research. They will have to test and experiment with this rare material called The pillar man. The result of this research and the conclusions that come with it are far from being reached.

Phase One

1.1 Initial scan and conclusions of the Pilarman

When they first discovered the commodity they were amazed by the information they got through the scans. They concluded that this material brings great possibilities if they could reach the point of success, which is why they started this project.

1.2 Study and creation of possible stabilization chambers

While doing the initial scans of the Pilarman material huge spikes of radiation were detected. Through that and some evidence through the mindshare, it was decided that before conducting any kind of tests that a specific chamber has to be built in case of unwanted reactions with the material.

1.3 Study and experiments with different chemical components

While some resources are still very rare for the Void Faes most chemical components are available to them. This is one of the most critical phases during the project since one wrong reaction could destroy them according to their initial scans.

1.4 Experiments on potential energy harnessing ways

After all, the purpose of this project is to create a new reactor type that is more efficient and longer-lasting than usual. Because of this potential energy harvesting technology has to be developed and researched.

Phase Two

1.1 First tests with potential reactor designs

After the first potential harnessing designs, the next logical step is to create a prototype reactor that is capable of producing a steady and controllable energy flow. This stage is close to the finish line yet a lot more has to be done towards making it fit into a small fighter craft.

1.2 First full load tests with the prototype reactor

Such a reactor obviously has to undergo heavy stress and durability testings before it can be installed in a ship. This is another highly critical stage as the reactor could overload and explode. Yet the Void Faes are fairly well equipped with research facilities that are capable to withstand such explosions.

1.3 Test fitting inside a small fighter craft

Once all the tests have been fully completed and have all been successful the first test fittings can be started. This includes possible rewiring of the whole ship and adaptation of existing powerlines as well as an exchange of already damaged components. First tests after the first install are also needed to be done to adjust the power output.

Log #1

So, yesterday we started with the construction of the stabilization chamber. We first had the idea to use a chamber that is built already that we use Black Nova compound test. However, even after deep cleaning said chamber we found very odd radiation signatures. This left us with no other choice than to build a new one.

We based the new chamber on the BNC chambers since we hope to achieve similar results with this pilar man material. Yet we can't foresee how anything of this will go.



With this chamber we should be capable of introducing a wide varity of chemicals and other materials to the pilar man and see how it reacts. The only concern for us is that we can't tell what destructive force is behind it if the material goes critical. Those chambers are quite sturdy but I don't think that it could prevent an explosion from happening.

Log #2

First of all. This Pilarman material is highly interesting. As it is a solid material we started the first experiments by heating it to over 1500°C but we got almost no real reaction besides that the material started to glow. We then proceeded to shock cool it down to around -150°C with similar effects happening. We expected at least some reaction. Maybe a break in the material, or some sounds. Nothing there was simply nothing.

After a while we got quite frustrated. Nothing we have tried over the past few days seemed to have any effect on it. We used chemicals that can eat through the strongest materials. We combined it with heat and freezing temperatures. We even tried to let it react with BNC. We finaly got a reaction but it was not what we expected. Usualy BNC is a highly unstable material that could eat up entire planets if it is held within the wrong conditions. However, it almost seemed like the BNC started to "calm" down once it made direct contact with the material. It is something that we will study later but for now this is useless for this project. Currently we are running simulations to see if there is any other material that could have those effects but reversed. To make the pilarman material active again.
