Jus to add a real life example. I met a new player last night who chatted with me because he asked me a question in Russian and was able to answer it. Turns out he speaks English fine and we chatted. In our conversation, here's what he said:
Quote:"I love this game"...."The mod is really good"...but is it worth it?"
He asked me that because of how argumentative and overbearing players were and made the point its a game he plays for fun and doesn't know if putting up with constant grief in it balances out.

This is a guy who wanted a believable ship (whithout having to be told to get one) for his char and turned down money because he wanted to earn it himself.

Just for people to consider.

The trick is to have as much fun as us.

Your RP will always be 50% influenced by other and 50% influenced by you. A isolationist style RP will make you get horribly flamed (depending the case, of course).

You can be A nuissance for LSF if you want, I'll just enjoy blasting you:P

For instance, I like to see the smoke coming out of the adversaries I have defeated.

I do enjoy taking a lot of SS where a player ship explodes.

Lately, I'm a PVP whore........ (Haven'T done any big fights for like a full month.)

The only time I've filed a report was out of peer pressure.

*looks at the hacker thread*

I do have some age-old dirt on a faction owner though.:secret:

Just remember that you'll need somewhere to dock. Junker bases are always open so just pop in every so often if you need to. Try not to cause too many explosions though, they tend to annoy other station goers.

Try to endure the flames by the way. A small bit of patience goes a long way on the server and generally in life. Explain to people your RP, even in a few sentences and that should clear things up.

I try and help people all the time.

I try and talk with folks privately.

I try and gather data on what is going on and why.

I also file sanction reports on a weekly basis.

I think more people should try and be helpful instead of just trying to get others in trouble.

However, I also think more people should write sanction reports instead of doing absolutely nothing or worse, whining about it in game for hours or days or starting flame threads.

Submitting a sanction report, at least for me, is a release. I do my best to resolve something in game, if it doesn't work I submit a sanction report. Once the sanction report is in thats it. I'm done. I do not let the issue bother me anymore. Either something gets done about it or it doesn't. If I didn't take the time or have the wisdom to get screens then I blame myself and that also is the end of it.

To many people do nothing all the time. It makes them bitter and resentful. It leads to arguing and flaming for days and weeks and months. There are numerous feuds in the community that have gone on forever, if those people had just gotten evidence and followed procedure instead of taking things so uber personally I think this place would be a whole lot better. I try hard to not let that happen and I feel sanction reports are helpful in that way.

Don't be hating on people who follow procedure and report rule breakers. You should focus your attention on the apathetic lazy people that sit around and do nothing but complain and whine day in and day out.

I can agree in all points,

the problem is just that there are many players that pretend to rp just to cover their own frustration
about things in real life and only are here to get some "satisfaction" by blowing other players.

And like I said before, the bad behaviour of some is just a reflection of todays society.

But hey, it's still just a game, nothing more.

I really hate to be facetious, but in this case I'll make an exception. If people didn't break the rules there would be no need to report them. There's a server message that says "Please read the rules, at http:// blablablaetc" for goodness' sake. If we just think "ah well, it's just one rule violation" then we end up with the same disaster that the New York system used to be.

No longer active online due to a dwindling amount of non-PvP (trading, pirating, mining, etc.) fun in the new version.

Okay, I apologize for role-playing an angry character ( Selfish_Dragon ) who said "s...it" then "Go to hell Liberty" on open chat in New York system, 3 or 4 weeks ago. I believe, I really deserved it, but the 7 days ban expired long ago and the account is still banned from the server. The account also includes an important role-play character of mine, named Douglas.C.Grant. He's an LSF officer in a Gunboat and the 40th day is closing in soon. Selfish_Dragon is needed in Chugoku to join a Blood Dragon role-playing faction. I don't know where to post this, so I chosen this thread, because there were no sanction thread for this. Please, I would even pay a hundred million credits.

Something for this thread: a player warned me, and someone banned me 1 or 2 minutes later before using the Jumpgate to Colorado.

It's better to PM an admin about this kind of thing & ask them about it instead of gravedigging an old thread.

Give it a try.
