Hello All;
With apologies for my continued absence from space, I tender this explanation. A few weeks ago, while performing some of my bread and butter runs of minerals and ores between Bretonia and the Border Worlds, the Northumbria become entangled in the worst Ion storm I have ever had the misfortune of witnessing and certainly the largest and most intense I've ever experienced from the inside.
We were near the Leeds/Tau gate when it struck. I cannot say how long we were within it, but by the time we had broken free of it's grasp, the Northumbria was well off the trade lanes and dozens of parsects from the Tau gate. This is, as any ship captain knows, a bad thing in any case. Being that I had recently transferred the Northumbria's transponder and ID to a freshly bought Train, we were in a territory where corrosive gas clouds and hostile Mollies were in abundance and in a ship ill suited for the situation. Worst, the prolonged contact with the Ion storm completely obliterated out primary navigation computers. We were able to limp back to Station LD-14 on our diminished secondary units with some difficulty, after ejecting our beryllium-laden cargo pods.
The Northumbria remains docked at LD-14 and is undergoing some rather extensive repairs due to the effects of both the Ion storm and corrosive clouds. I am transmitting this message from a personal computer unit which is an older model and incapable of processing flight computations.
I hope to have our primary system restored soon so that we can get back in action.
Until then we are hard at work aboard ship at LD-14, and hope to be able to limp ourselves home to Kensington or at least to Leeds sometime next week.
With Regards,
J. Davidson, Northumbria.

Mr. Davidson,
Good to hear from you, though I am sorry to learn of your misfortune with ship systems. I have contacted Kensington and have ordered a repair team to be dispatched to your location as soon as possible. I hope they will be able to effect repairs to your train.
Until then, you and your crew can remain on LD-14 at company expense.

Subject: Bretonian Political Turmoil
My Dear Friends,
As you well know, there has been much political turmoil of late in our nation. First, between the Crown and Lord Mountbatten, and now, something brewing with the populists in Parliament.
As you know, I myself am a populist. I believe very strongly in the right of the people to govern themselves. I have up to now believed this to coexist well with a constitutional monarchy, but I am having some misgivings.
That said, at this point Gateway will continue to operate as we have, legally and in the best interests of Bretonia. Do not allow the current troubles to affect your flying, and do not assume friendship or hostility with anyone different from what our company diplomacy dictates.
If you have any questions, or encounter any incident, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Hello everyone,
Hope i find you all well. Been busy as of late but have kept myself to the pullman run as to not antagonise any diplomatic situations. Nothing of any substance to report apart from a few Lanehackers requesting small donations. LD-14 in Leeds has been requesting shipments of boron as of late and i have been delivering on time with the aid of escorts from Jupiter Guild. One thing of interest though is a new clan in Dublin. Non to friendly they are as well so if anyone is going to Dublin for a gold shipment i suggest an escort.

Greetings Chaps!
This is to inform all that the lads and I are well onboard the Devonshire. We've made a run to Pueblo station with a hold full of berrylium and then returned to Bretonian space, Waterloo station specifically, with a consignment of lane parts, which fetched a handsome profit. Then the lads and I made our way towards Dortmond with another hold full of berrylium. While in Omega 7 space, a pirate by the name of Outlaw.Man, flying under the Corsair banner, stopped us. A polite fellow, wasn't the least bit greedy. He accepted 500K and allowed the lads and I to sail away safely.
Truely,
Niles

Greetings Chaps!
This day has ended in tragedy, mates! Upon completion of a pullman run in Leeds, the lads and I were attacked by a Corsair terrorist named Mon'Star. He made no demands of us and never gave us a chance to surrender! The Devonshire was destroyed! The lads and I got out in an escape pod just in time and we made it back to Kensington.
Fortunately, I had just made my insurance payment on the Devonshire, so the insurance company should have me a new vessel ready soon.
Truely,
Niles

Mr. Perrywinkel,
Bad news indeed! I was awaiting your arrival when the attack occurred, but it happened to soon for me to do anything about it.
Mon'Star is a psychopath who, until last evening, I though remained in the Liberty area and the borderworlds between us. It seems he is venturing into Bretonian space now, and at the time of the attack, no police or navy were available to assist. This is deeply disturbing.
To All Employees: From this point forward, if Mon'Star is located on long-range scanners, avoid the system he is in, unless you have adequate escort support. He is far too dangerous.
Mr. Perrwinkel, I'm having your ship repaired immediately - it should be ready for flying again later today. If you or your crew need anything, do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you sir. The lads and I are well, with the exception with a few scrapes on our bodies and bruises on our egos. We shall be fine.
I've spoken with the Maintenance Chief here on Kensington and he tells me that our ship is a total loss, barely much of her left for salvage.
I've spoken with the insurance adjuster and I've received payment for a new ship. However, I've decided that it is time to expand my operation into a larger vessel, so I have acquired a brand new Firefly. The lads and I have already had our own little christening party and have taken her out on a shake down cruise from New London to the Colorado system. This time I was able to secure the services of [\JG/] Rakgoul and [\JG/] Dalilama and the voyage was without incident. Their services were excellent, highly professional, and I highly recommend them. And I am pleased to report that the new ship is performing exceptionally well.
Truely,
Niles Perrywinkel

Hello everyone,
Hope i find you all well. Firstly my apologies for the latness in this trade report, things are getting a bit hectic (rl). Teamed up with Niles for a Pullman run and all was going well till we reached Stuttgart with our load of diamonds bound for Leeds. We ran into a VF pilot who demanded Niles dropped his load of diamonds claiming they do not like the trade in blood diamonds from Rhineland. I escaped this claim as i was through the trade lane before he disrupted it. Niles did as was requested but i made sure he was recompensed for his loss.Could it be confirmed that we treat these VF pilots the same as any other pirate please.

Mr. McDonald,
You both handled the situation just fine. The People's Front (VF) is a political faction devoted to overthrowing the Rheinland government - they will do anything to hinder trade in Rheinland.
While we might be sensitive to their political concerns, which do have some merit, we do not make it a practice to drop our cargo. If you find yourself confronted by a VF vessel, then yes, handle the situation like you would a pirate: assess the situation (just a fighter against two transports, or a bomber; does he have support nearby, etc.), and respond accordingly with all due discretion and care for your crews. Also, feel free to challenge the pilot - perhaps you won't have to give up as much. If they want you to drop cargo for political reasons, they should be able to explain those reasons to you.
