Seems to me everyone got something, in spite of the non promising balance of the teams at the start, and general poor start of the big Invasion event.

Lastly, from what I mentioned in the first paragraph, if you want people to listen, don't make calls that affect the outcome while everyone is in a fight, in the heat of the moment. If you want to talk to people, pull both sides apart, explain it, equalize it, continue.

I respect that you're trying to be constructive here, but do you think this would actually work? Put yourself in Barrier's situation for a moment. One side is heavily outnumbered and outweighed. They can't go heavier than snubs because if they do they get statchecked by higher numbers, and with the addition of you guys on snubs they have relative parity with skill levels to the molly side, if not slightly molly favoured, in addition to already each having our own personal cruisers permachasing us. This is, quite frankly, a stomp through no fault of anyone that actually logged and tried on the BAF side. It isn't a winnable fight no matter which way you look at it.

If you wait and pull people apart, people on the BAF side will most likely start logging off and leaving and that's kind of that unless you want the rest of the event to be half of the (former) molly side switching faction vs the other half of the molly side which kind of just sucks.

I don't know about you but through this lens I can see why barrier did what he did in the moment, even if I do rather heavily disagree on things like bastilling you for the name which absolutely is a moderator's job rather than a dev's. Nobody can make perfect decisions under pressure in the moment, but I don't think he was wrong for trying and I don't think he deserves to be crucified on this one.

I would definitely rather have him break apart the fight and event completely just so he can get a word out. A decision made on the whim as tensions are on high from being in pvp gets people riled up.

If it's to get the Molly side to remove battleships on their side or to allow BAF side to log in battleships for parity to make up for the one that abandoned out of frustration.

If people leave because they can't wait for a shit situation to reset so people can have fun, so be it. But it's better than a dumpster fire of angered egos and miscommunicated intentions.

For the record we left after a couple of us got fucked over by the whole "stay away from Somerset" statement without being allowed reset with our fleet.

So let's flip it around, if it happened to you, you'd be making the same points I'm making now.

Fair enough, to be honest. It could have perhaps been a better way to go about it. I still don't blame Barrier for at least trying to do something even if it was imperfect, though.

I'd have to agree on that. Truly an exquisite example of completely fair and balanced gameplay Discovery Freelancer RP 24/7 is known for!

Hey folks, I did overshoot the HP of the event ships, my bad. With today's more even engagement, the BAF side only had a single chance to pour in the damage, and it was not enough. For now, I am running with the outcome that the Hope had to detonate early to achieve a partial success of its objective, as it would have definitely died with less hp. I'll have to confirm with story if that's acceptable, but you can assume that the Bracknell is still in the game for now.

Meanwhile, the Bretonian Cruisers on the Achilles side were destroyed, and heavily damaged on the Founder side. The Mollys lost their covering Coalition gunboats and had their reserve force heavily damaged near Arranmore. Stay tuned for story to turn this mess into a more interesting dynamic stalemate.
