Yes, it is possible.
Players and factions have been SRPing new equipment for their ships. Still, these items are most likely to be balanced as sidegrades - offering something different from existing equivalents, but not serving as clearly superior gear.
That's what I was hoping for. I had some ideas for snub size cloaking devices that would be slightly different. If I understand cloaks properly. As well as a few other things.
