I will be exercising my uTorrent Power as soon as I get my Alienware out of the doghouse. DRM is bull****. As far as I'm concerned, EA knows damn well what they're doing, they know why it isn't working, but they're a bunch of stubborn pricks who can't admit they're wrong (like me!)
I intend to enjoy RA3. For those of you who want a serious game: Sorry. Red Alert has never been about seriousness for me. It's about being made to laugh. The series is essentially a big, violent cartoon, for crying out loud.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are some gameplay issues. EA has stuck its fingers into the gamemaking process once again, what do we expect, perfection on a silver platter? If there isn't a cigarette butt or two mixed into the entree then there's probably a large digital skeleton with a scythe behind you. Pray for Blizzard. They can still save us.

You haven't played Red Alert one, have you?
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.

I have! For the gaming time period, still not that serious of game. My issue with Red Alert 3 is how complicated it is. What I always liked about the C&C series is that it was straight up action strategy. Plenty of diferent tactical choices, but at the same time evry easy to manage. I felt that C&C 3 was a good evolution to the series, it had some more complex element but it stayed easy to manage.
RA3 is *****ing ridiculous! For such a fast paced game you have to be thinking way too much about unit composing of both your forces and your enemies. There is no room for error in playing, you have always anticipate you opponent. I suppose this works for the developers "RTS as a Sport" theory, but it alienates causual rts gamers such as myself.
As for DRM, eppy you should still buy some games. Yes EA are pricks, but if you dont buy a developers stuff, they kill the developer. I like Bioware for instance. I have no intrest in seeing EA axe them.
Nah, everybody knows that for example Spore didn't sell because of the DRM, because the torrent downloads reached sky high numbers.
At any rate, RA3 is sooo much different from CnC3. CnC3 = tank spam, RA3 = uber micro, although I like it. The rushing is extreme though, churn out one or two units and you have enough firepower to level your opponents base if he's not prepared, especially as Empire. I finished the campaigns on hard so far, going after skirmishes now. Anybody want to set up some online matches?:P
Oh and, RA1 is still better because of the superior feel of the game!
Anyone wanna try out this co-op campaign mode with me?
I wanna complete all three campaigns with a human ally. Currently I'm just starting with the AI...
Red alert one was a tentative step in the direction of the zanyness of 2 and 3. Red alert one has nothing to do with realism (attack dogs? TESLA TOWERS? flame turrets? Tanya? Chrono sphere? Iron Curtain? (one of the biggest puns in the game is the iron curtain))
Red alert 2 then continued the awesomeness and zanyness, by stepping out of RA1s "im gunna be careful and restrain my zany side" corner, and flourishing. If you want seriousness, thats what C&C generals is about, and partly Command and Conquer. Red Alert is basically a violent gaming cartoon, as soda said. Also, Hell March has always and always will be my favourite bit of music of all time, and so is the red alert series my fave gaming series. The Co-Op will be awesome, a real new faction (unlike Yuris wtflolz faction) and a larger focus on the water (mwuhahaha your mammoth tanks cant kill my base! its on water not land! mwuahahahaha!)
i cant wait to buy it.
Uhm...
Attack dogs are real...
Tesla towers and Flame turrets could easily be a reality..
A crazy female commando with C4 is also believable.
Sure, the Chrono Sphere and Iron Curtain are difficult to believe, but they're not far out there.
RA2 was a joke compared to the 1st one. And RA3 is again, incredibly different.
But I guess that's what you get when a different team designs each game. Considering the first RA game, developed by the core of the Westwood guys, was a.. prequel to the C&C games (Kane at the end, anyone?) then that got totally blown out of the water when RA2 was done by a completely different team.
Now RA3 is another completely different team.
