@Drake:

I believe i stand corrected. But the Liberty Navy still should not be enforcing this law by actively seeking out criminals. Just like in the real USN, they do not go out looking for smugglers, but if they do catch one, each Navy ship has a Coast Guard arrest team on board to perform the arrest. Not Navy MPs.

Agreed, I would fully support a ID rewrite which disallowed military ships from performing certain police duties. As it stands, police are just the little brothers to the militaries, with no real unique position to fill.

Quote:Unfortunately, I cannot participate in this skewed poll.

By adding an "Abstain" option to the poll, you've biased the survey quite well. Bravo.

Only the people who really care about the issue will vote, and since the people who really care about the issue are those who want to the Military ID to stay, you end up with massively large proportion of persons voting for the "Sign this Petition" option.

By adding an Abstain option, you're essentially equating Signing the petition to "Yes," and Abstaining to "No."

Here's how you need to fix this.

Talk to the admins, find a number for the amount of signatures needed for the petition to pass, and remove the "Abstain" option.

When the number of people who click on the "Sign this petition" option, say, 100, then the petition may be passed. Otherwise, this isn't a survey. This is a petition. Only one choice is required: "Sign this Petition."

Purposely misleading options not required.

I wont say I agree with changing the poll.

It's a petition. You sign petitions that you agree with.

How many solicitors come to your house regarding community issues trying to get something changed and you sign said petition saying, "Onoez! U suq, lolz - Bob Smith".

If you abstain, then you disregard the solicitor and send them away. In effect, not signing it.

You can catch up with your vocabulary Here. If you want to state your opinion then you gripe at the solicitor or call the people that made the petition. Incidentally, posting here saying why.

*sigh* Anywho...

I think i have to agree with magoo here. It was called a petition for a reason. Changing his poll is unfair since, well, its a petition.

1: Yey!
2: Whatever, go away.
3: Go away for x reason.

EDIT: Sorry, i know my word isn't worth much, but he has a piont.

My angel is a Centerfold, is yours?

I beg to differ, and this is one reason why things in reality are so messed up, because they simply have abstain (for reasons unknown) or "yay! go you!". Everything, regardless of what it is, should have "this sucks, don't do it!" or maybe "Other: write reason here" as well as "don't know/don't care" and "yes, this is a good idea".

Then you present the petition to whoever is in charge etc. That also gives those in charge the opportunity to see how many agree with your position, how many don't know/don't care and how many think it sucks, out of all the people you asked. And that, right there, is a more sensible petition and considerably more accurate. Assuming it isn't rigged. We should do the same with voting in politics as well. "You all suck" should be on voting ballot sheets XD

Most petitions have a comments bar and a signature bar.

You could always refuse to sign it, but leave a comment, no?

Anyways, we're getting into the technicalities of petitions now. *sigh* I'll come back once I'm in a more mentally stable state.

I would change my vote to a 'yes' if it was written properly, with a note that it should generally only be used by factions or groups designed around the ID.

Something like,

Paramilitary ID
Pilot carrying this ID is a member of a paramilitary organization, who:
* Can trade and escort traders
* Can hunt pirates and terrorists within their ZoI
* Can fulfill lawful bounty contracts
* Cannot pirate
* Cannot use any transports with more than 3,500 cargo
* Cannot participate in any unlawful actions

Allowed ships: Fighters, Bombers, Freighters, Transports, Gunboats
Carrying unmounted IDs in your ship, as well as not equipping an ID, is a serious crime.

It's hard to write it out well and completely, since it depends a lot on the faction going to be using it. Generally no stopping smugglers, I'd say, but what about the LC who want to use it to do just that? This is why the Special Operative ID might work as well or better.

Just take mercanery IDs, write cute story about your relations to official army... maybe ale those lawful mercs should try arrange unified independent TAG sign before name.

For example indie soldier in liberty [H-LN] H= hired LN= Liberty Navy
Rheinlanders [VA-RM] VA= volks army RM= Rheinland military (home defense - militia)

and all those mercs with those tags will need registration and CONTRACT posted here on forum... good RP (less lol pwners in game because mercs without contracts attacking anybody are criminals)

Its fine just how it is, but it should be a little more specific on what can/cannot be used. Gunboat max cap limit is good, we dont want even more capwhores...

The irony is strong in this one.

Drake:

Paramilitary ID
Pilot carrying this ID is a member of a paramilitary organization, who:
* Can trade and escort traders
* Can hunt pirates and terrorists within their ZoI
* Can fulfill lawful bounty contracts
* If allowed by a House, they may:
o Demand contraband, levy fines and destroy ships if they refuse to comply
o Destroy traders in their ZoI who belong to corporations headquartered in Houses that they are at war with if the trader refuses to drop all cargo and leave.
* Cannot pirate
* Cannot use any transports with more than 3,500 cargo
* Cannot participate in any unlawful actions

Allowed ships: Fighters, Bombers, Freighters, Transports, Gunboats
Carrying unmounted IDs in your ship, as well as not equipping an ID, is a serious crime.

That should solve the problem. The Liberty Cutter Service (I think that's what it was called) and similarly-minded factions and indies would probably be able to get permission to do those two things from the appropriate lawful factions, and the potential for abuse wouldn't be there as such permission would have to be granted on the forums, just like the new rule about bounty contracts.
