1) Admins do a great job for the most part, even if i have disagreed especially recently, with one of them, and i still think i was right and he was biased.
2) But admins make mistakes, but i would rather have them, than not.
3) It's just a game, a game we are meant to enjoy, fact.
4) If your rp is different, and you get sanctioned for it, or threatened with sanction, explain about your rp, provide proof ect.
5) But Tenacity is right about the rp being narrow, and less leeway nowadays than, say, a few months ago.

Quote:Thanks for your work on the server, and spending a lot of your personal time on this, I know how much work it is, and how much time it consumes, as I have been admin for years as well. Altough, I doubt a lot of actions recently, I doubt fairness in few cases and I dislike "You are just lowly human" stance. Sorry guys, but I've had to say it.
Thing I really dislike... A lot of "causes"... its just about opinion... Someone belives it is right, someone not... Then "I am admin so I have to be right" comes in... I dont think this is the civil way to solve things... This is more like " Im better than you so go away"
Another thing... I feel like there are personal opinions to be found in some of the sanctions. By that I mean that certain someone, may not like certain factions / people and just because of that fact, the sanction is much harder. It happened, and it will happen again. I do not doubt that I'm on the "Black list" as well, and if I wasnt... well, I am now.
During last weeks/months, the sanctions bekame scary, you cant even play anymore without pressing printscreen every second... You never know who will drag part of your speaking and fill a sanction report. But Thats not right, thats not fun, when one violates rule(s) he/she should be sanctioned, altough nowdays, sanctions are around for, well, anything. We all should do something about that. One wrong part is the fact people are reporting everyone they dont like, other wrong part is the fact that the team actually accepts it and makes a sanction.
I may sound hostile, altough I do not mean it, its just... Crismass grave-mood, and I'm being kinda angry about few experiences I've had - Well and when someone elses started it already, I can say my "2 cents" as well.
Happy...christmass,
Elvin

I largely agree with Tenacity's post about this if you take out the flame against Xoria and Del, which are, in my opinion, both doing a nice job. This is supposed to be a roleplaying server - and this attack on that indie guy was completely in RP. HE decided to ignore RP restrictions set by the player faction - that alone isn't and shouldn't be sanctionable, but he should live with the consequences of his actions. He disobeyed orders, he gets blown up.
And completely apart from that...that indie guy was flying a capship. That alone isn't bad. But flying a capship made for combat into NY without a warfleet backing it up and without a very good reason. Also, what was bad is WHICH warship he was flying, a Zoner Juggernaut, which is NOT something the Zoners would EVER give their allies.
See, that's why I'm very, very glad that there are no Coalition indies. I don't have anything against indies in general, I've actually been someone who almost only played indies for quite some time. But as an indie, one has to show a certain respect to the player factions, and that includes following their orders or facing the consequences.

...And I wish this was the only "strange" sanction. Maybe some problematic rules should be rephrased, and less reportable.
Just to the post no. 53 ... Well, locking wont really solve anything, altough, the funny thing is, locking this thread would mean that it is very truth, what is written here. And a bit of censure.

The problem is that the player factions (much as they might like to think otherwise) don't have the authority to tell players not to RP within the established diplomacy of the mod. Telling an Order indie not to attack Liberty is like telling a Bretonian indie not to attack Kusari. It's just powertripping by factions.
No longer active online due to a dwindling amount of non-PvP (trading, pirating, mining, etc.) fun in the new version.

Get a more info about who done what and when, why, with what... Its so complicated... but it will be a great idea to not start the discussion about that again and here.

Well, I don't pick a side, because:
1) (if it's true) a Juggernaut camping outside of Manhattan isn't good, and it's worst if his RP is just "You're going down" and bang bang.
2) No order NPC's in New York, true. But, there's no lane hackers in new york neither, and people don't complain when PC Lane Hackers attack New York. Also, there is no Corsairs in new york neither, and PC corsairs use to get in new york (don't know why). And the list is bigger than that: No Rheinlanders in Liberty, no Libertonians in Rheinland, no NPCs zoners in new york, or nomads or....
3) Want a solution for THC? This is what I would did about it. I'd contacted a member of the liberty force, and warn them about this situation, that'd be a better in-rp response for Bluntage, because in fact, Bluntage was a menace for Liberty, no for Order. And if you say "it's bad to our image", THC doesn't affect Bs's image, and get down of your high horse, Liberty could care less about Order's image. They are terrorist with or without Bluntage's actions.
4) Bluntage, seriously, do some RP.
5) If you're not an admin, don't try to do their job, there is more than one point of view, they have to enforce rules using proofs, that's all what they have to do their job. They can't take your word instead than a SS.
If something piss you off, I recomend take your time to cooldown yourself.
Even the greatests make mistakes (That's why I'm not on of the greatests:)), and right now is when you have to take your time.
*sighs* Now I know why I stopped playing like I was in the past...
I must admit that Tenn has a few points (mainly those related to players themselves)
Right now the problem is coming from the players as well as the server rules.
At the moment, since there is a rule for every single little tiny picky thing on the server: players get less responsibilities to handle by themselves.
Now, for every little problem they have, they can simply waltz to the forums and make a post in the sanction tread... Instead of trying to solve the issue by themselves. Like a bunch of babies in a day-nursery running to their mother's skirts to whine. . .
By removing responsibilities that were handled by players, we sold a part of our soul to the devil. In the past, players were solving issues more frequently by themselves, as there were no rules about the problem they met. Their arguments/statements were relying on respect and gentleman's agreements that were commonly agreed on as well as being reasonable.
Secondary effects of such phenomenon is that the players start to become a tad stressed and paranoid while playing whilst some of them(or others) at the same time asking for more "rules" to prevent any bad situation they may face. Players will hardly feel relaxed when playing the game since they will always face the fear of doing something wrong and then get sanctioned/reported for their mistake or ignorance because their victim couldn't afford to spend 5 minutes to tell him he did wrong...
myself, I believe a good 50% of the rules should be burnt to the ground. Their approach is simply too detrimental to both the players and the playing environment. I also believe that fairplay and sportsmanship were pushed away to let a big spot under the light to RP and server rules.
can/could we go back to like it was in the past? about a year ago.
That is the question I always wondered
and before anyone ask... Yes, I love anarchy, PVP, respect and yes, I am inactive due to most of the bullcrap that has been going on in here.
Now, I will leave you all to this,
This top of the line Whambulance will provide all the needs you need to have fulfilled... Beside having a cute nurse to take care of you...The reality is that there is nothing nice in this whambulance so stop calling it.
When I first arrived here, I "met" a lot of good people in the virtual space of Disco.
They helped me get started.
A few days later I found out I had Cancer.
I wandered around in game pondering "Why?" . . . when I was robbed by Pirates 3 times in a row.
I got frustrated and "F1ed" in space.
I was sanctioned.
I deserved it!
It is a game, I am in another persons playground and "I broke the rules."
I apologised to all here at the forum, especially the Admins who I gave more work for them to do.
On many other servers, my mistake would of been Bannable (Banned)
A few days ago, I was helping a "New player" like I was helped when I first got here.
An Battlecruiser with one tag, a different IFF that had nothing to do with the ship type blew my Advanced train up before I knew what happened.
The expensive items I was going to donate to the new player was taken along with cargo.
I was NOT going to file a report, but the "Player" did not care about "rules" and was abusive.
I saw he was shooting everything in sight after another player tried to politely educate him.
I filed a report.
It is NOT the Admins fault.
Every day I see things like Corsair Gunboats, with Zoner tags and Liberty Rougue IFF shooting up a storm. It is NOT the Admins fault.
It is the MOD.
On many other Mod's I played or Modded for, getting a Capship, certain weapons or special items was earned in various ways.
Either:
Clan leaders issued them.
The game was modded so only certain people could get them . . .
. . . or with a Dynamic-economy Mod, you brought the "parts" to build one to your clans Planet or station.
You just could NOT buy one. Not so here. Have Credits, get what ever you so desire.
Big mistake.
The Admins are trying to stamp out a Gas station fire while it is still pumping Gas.
Yes, we are here to have fun and RP.
It is Not fun or RP to be robbed (for example) in your travels by a Corsair Tagged player in an Outcast Cruiser that has a neutral IMG IFF and Nomad Turrets . . . and then get blown up above New Berlin by them anyways.
It is NOT the Admins . . . it is the Mod.
Fix the way things are sold and we stop a lot of fuel pouring on the perverbial sanction Barn-fire.
