Freelancer uses minimal it seems but I have seen the occasional odd spike where Freelancer took an unusual amount, I assume it has something to do with FLhook and maybe cheat mods. *shrugs*

Just so you know freelancer runs good on dialup most times... so it uses definitely less bandwidth then dialup.

And there is no way dialup can download 20-40 mbs per hour...

The total traffic used by a completely full server is less than 4 meg, otherwise we would be paying for it.
And using bittorents when gaming, is just plain dumb ... Along with any other bandwidth hogging applications.
Don't want to be hearing any complaints about our connection being crap, if you are using anything other
than necessary software, because I suspect pretty much all the problems stem from your ends, and not ours.

Well yes, since my LAG report to Korrd today I'm officially one of those you mentioned.

But im not using any other programs than Freelancer, no other
processes in fact, i set it up similar to "safe mode"

It is only of late, that those problems with the connection occurred.

I don't know who's to "blame" but i don't think generalizing everyone with a connection problem
as "dumb" will solve anything.

Korrd himself told us he has a ping of ~250!!

wassup

Install Bitmeter, run Discovery for an hour like normal, then look at the statistics grid, you can also set a bandwidth alarm to tell you if your getting close to the limit.

Sorry Balthazzar, I was answering this little gem ... Anyone with connection 'problems', whether it is of their
own making, or just a genuine case, has an effect on the server. What would be nice is if those with a stable
fast one didn't throttle their own bandwidth creating more unnecessary load on the server.
We have no control over what is connecting, unless we set the connection parameters on the software, to
remove those with very high latency ... That would prove to be a most unpopular move I suspect, especially
to those down under, and of course Korrd. Ping and lag do not go hand in hand anyway ...

My torrent client is limited both in its own configuration, and by my router's QoS. My latency's pretty much the same with or without it running. Any latency problems I have'll be the fault of my ISP (Roadrunner bites!) and overall distance to the server.
